Would Appreciate Any Feedback On This Rtd Sumbission Please!
Hi all,
I just got a return on a submission, with the music box ticked. It was for the brief :
"CURRENT, HOOK-LADEN ADULT CONTEMPORARY SONGS with VOCALS a la Train, Daughtry, and Kelly Clarkson ("Already Gone") sought by A-list Film/TV/Ad Publisher supplying top TV series and films....."
The tune is called "Now Or Never".

Thanks !

Mark, it's fairly obvious to me why you got the music box checked. Your song sounded miles apart from what the ala's were. I youtubed the ala's Kelly Clarkson's "Already Gone", I heard train's "soul sister" and a couple seconds of Daughtry. I don't think you would have been any more successful sending it for a George Jones listing. Your song sounds more hard rock to me, Aerosmith, Kiss, I don't listen to any of the newer rock or alt/rock, but I think it would be a lot closer.

Mark,
To me it seemed to miss on the "hook-laden" contemporary feel...verses and choruses didn't have much of a distinction from each other.....that's my guess on the return...
Regards,
Dick

Thanks for the input. I think it's right for a Daughtry-type of voice / band, but hey, that's my opinion so YMMV. The problem I'm seeing with TAXI listings is that they are too vague in what they want - Daughtry is a rock band and current Train is something VERY different than that.... and I say that as a past songwriter for a company owned by the Bee Gees. If you get a second, check out Train's "Hey Soul Sister" compared to "It's Not Over" by Daughtry to see what I mean.
Thanks again, and I'll be sure to check out the tunes on your profiles so I can get an idea of what you guys consider to be good.

There is a Taxi ustream video that I couldn't find, that discusses how to interpret the listings or at least gives a little more insight on the subject.
If your looking for what I consider good, I don't think you're going to find it on my profile, I don't even remember now what was on there, but I can assure you it's crap I haven't deleted. I do have a song currently in peer to peer I'd be happy to have your opinion on. It may or not be good, but that is something I'm always working to get better at.
If you worked for a company owned by the Bee Gees, it is very possible that someone on the screener staff may have worked there also. As I said previously, this is not a genre I would feel qualified to offer a lot of opinion on, though I would agree what I heard of all 3, I didn't find so much in common, except that they might have been a little more "pop" than your song.

And what "adults" listen to Kelly Clarkson or Daughtry? I don't associate those artists with AC. Pop, yes. AC, no.
