Any ideas where this song could go?

Post by j03 » Fri May 13, 2011 9:13 pm

The original post was in General hangout and i was told I should post these types of questions in this section, so here is the original post:

Hey all,

I just uploaded this new track but im not certain which would be the most beneficial listing type this should go in.
I'm thinking an Ad would be perfect but is there a better home for this track you think?

The song is called "The Eye of Youth".

Hey, Jo,

I think you're right about an ad placement being the right place for this. It feels quietly positive, so it would work for banks, credit cards, charities, mortgage brokers, healthcare etc., imo. Anywhere that something is building. Growth, fruition, that kind of thing.

Good luck with it.

Exactly, I was thinking about some positive uses like a Kaiser "Thrive" commercial or "the fight for breast cancer" type of theme.

BTW. Where in the heck can i find Ad listings? I don't see anything in any categories.
Ive only received about 2 listings in the past that were Ad specific.
Are they just rare or what?

As I understand things, Taxi's relationship with NY ad agencies is fairly new. But patience is a virtue.

I have no experience in instrumentals for ads, but this sounds right up that alley to me. I'd be proud to have this in my catalog if I were going for such placements.

Joseph,

Look for all instrumental listings and choose which ones (research the alas if provided) to submit to based on whether or not you think it fits the listing. I do think this could work in advertising, but it may also work in film and TV. Be prepared to submit 30 and 60 second cues if that's what the listing calls for. Also, you might consider re-titling the song to give the screeners, music editors, AR folks, publishers, etc. a better idea of the feeling of the piece. For example, "The New Sun of Hope" may better communicate to the listener that an instrumental piece has an uplifting or hopeful sound to it. Hope this helps; no pun intended.

Great Advice Howlindog!

I will think of a more suitable title that pretty much says all if not most about the piece.
For a 30-60 sec cue, that won't be a problem. Since their all virtual instruments excluding the drums which are rewired from Reason it will be a seamless operation.

It was done in Ableton Live, and I just noticed it shows the time in min/sec on the bottom of the arrangement window, so I am all set! I always wondered where I can find the actual time instead of bars/beats because I mostly use Ableton Live in Session view.
Now, I just need to wait for the proper listing.
Thanks,

j03
