ABC TV show "Wipeout"
Last month I signed a 3 song publishing deal with a major publisher after a forward on a cont. gospel listing. I think I posted about it when it transpired, but that bit of back story is necessary for the recent news.
On Friday AM (May 20), the president of the aforementioned company sent out an email to all of his signed composers. This message stated that he is working with ABC and needs music for their new show, “Wipeout.” The parameters were: :60-:90 in the “rock/corny” genre.
I emailed him back immediately thanking him for the opportunity and agreeing to write. His response was quick and he asked me to watch the show online to get the feel/vibe. I had already looked it up on Hulu and was watching when I received his message, so I thanked him again and let him know I was already watching.
As an aside, I agreed to undertake this project knowing full well Rock is absolutely NOT the genre I typically write in. Christian, Gospel, R&B, Pop, Country, Children’s, Reggaeton...no problem. But rock? I am a drummer and keyboard player/producer, not a guitarist (the essential element of every good rock song!)
So I souped up my arsenal of sounds and began writing immediately. Over the weekend I wrote and submitted 5 different songs.
I just received word that all the songs are perfect. The exact wording in the message, “They all work great James, I will send out an agreement..”
So without that forward from a previous listing, I wouldn’t have this relationship, nor the opportunity.
THANKS TAXI!
P.S. I just posted all the songs on my taxi site. They all are listed by title first, then in parenthesis (for ABC's "wipeout"). I.e. "Farewell, my love (for ABC's "Wipeout")"
The song titles:
1. Farewell, my love
2. Head over heels
3. Here we come
4. What's the plan?
5. When I was younger

Congrats James! Your tracks sound great, totally see why he took them. I'm in that group with you and Mazz, trying to get some more tracks over to him before the deadline!

Re: ABC TV show "Wipeout"
I am absolutely floored that you were able to write and record all 5 of those tunes IN ONE WEEKEND! I'm totally jealous, I can't work nearly that fast.

You saw an opportunity and went for it, that's awesome! Sounds like you have a new genre you can write and pitch! Good luck raking in the placements to you and Mazz and Big Blue!

Congratulations James I also am amazed at how fast you put all that together and it sounds like you also nailed that Ambient Nutrient thing. I just read about it in my email. Way to go! Tom.
