Re: Bluesy enough or too Rocky?
I too was going to say it sounds a lot more like something that Eric Johnson would play... I'm a big Robben Ford fanatic but don't hear that in your track (which is a great thing!) I don't sound anything like Robben Ford myself. People have told me, I sound like Michael Landau, Steve Lukather, Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour or Carlos Santana (I take offense to that since I've never liked Santana, probably because I use the Wah-Wah a lot!)
But your track has a home in one of the modern blues listings that pop up occasionally (or even the right kind of rock listing)... make sure to submit it!
Great playing Bob...

Re: Bluesy enough or too Rocky?
Hi Bob,
It doesn’t sound to Rocky to me.
If anything I get a country bluesy vibe listening to it and I like it a lot.
Great playing on a cool tune.
If I have to get really picky, I would have wanted the drummer to tune his snare a bit tighter,
so that it stood out more when he hit it.
It sounded too soft for the temperament of this song, imhho.
I don’t think you’ll have any problems about finding what to do with it.
Wish I had those problems.
ciao, Dan

I got a John Mayer vibe from this, from the Hendrix'y rhythm groove. Love the beefy tone, sounds awesomely solid! I would pull out the running water sample for submissions, though. That would be too restrictive for the usefullness of the song. I'd say it's a (really nice!) rock instrumental, so any listing asking for that would apply, IMO.

John Mayer, yup I guess it does. I'm a big fan but wrote this song when he was a kid

I forgot about the water sample in there! ... maybe I do have to go back and remix this ... DAMN!

Re: Bluesy enough or too Rocky?
Really nice track, Bob!
If I had to pick ONE main genre, it would be rock. It's a little bluesy, southern rock-ish and I also hear some John Mayer type licks in there. (That all probably doesn't help you a lot, LOL!)
The middle section could probably also be an additional separate short cue. Sadder, more bluesy feel. Nice iedit points throughout.
You have some ocean and birds sounds at the end. Not sure if better without.
3:41 to end could make a (soft) stinger for the end of film/TV scenes.
Sometimes a piece of music is excellent but harder to classify and therefore it's harder to get forwards on Taxi listings which tend to be more specific genre-wise. Keep an eye out for "wide range" listings. And nothing wrong with pitching short edit sections where applicable.
Good luck!
Casey
