I know the reason I was successful in building TAXI was that very same reason. I made up my mind that under no circumstance would I give up. Not just words, but an absolute commitment, no matter how difficult things got. And trust me when I tell you that things often got impossibly hard. But if you know that giving up is not an option, then you find the strength to keep going.

I know people think I hype success to our members, but it's not hype at all. Ask anybody who has ever succeeded at something very difficult and they will likely tell you that anybody can accomplish anything if they just don't give up. I truly believe that every TAXI member who wants to earn his or her living making music can accomplish that goal if they just don't give up—no matter how hard things become or how long it takes.

It took me 7 very long years of earning much less than I made at my previous jobs to get back to that income level with TAXI. I wanted to call it quits thousands of times, but knowing that my kids would learn that they could be anything they wanted to be by watching me succeed was the thing that kept me going.

Seeing that you are committed to not "cut and run" tells me that you will indeed be successful Paul. I'd like to be first in line to congratulate you.

I know people think I hype success to our members, but it's not hype at all. Ask anybody who has ever succeeded at something very difficult and they will likely tell you that anybody can accomplish anything if they just don't give up. I truly believe that every TAXI member who wants to earn his or her living making music can accomplish that goal if they just don't give up—no matter how hard things become or how long it takes.

I've been thinking about this a lot because I am about to renew my Taxi.com membership (I've been a member for years now).

I've realized that:
Rejection & failure (at times) are part of the journey and part of the hard work. They are not necessarily indications that you are heading in the wrong direction.

You see: it's painful to learn & grow...but it's well worth it.

You GET it Stuart! We've all been told this our entire lives, but most people DO give up. That's why MOST people aren't NFL quarterbacks, rock stars, pro golfers or millionaires. That's what makes this community so special. There are a lot of people who haven't given up and are succeeding because they were persistent and willing to admit that there is always more to learn.

And if you keep trying year after year and you never get closer, it doesn't necessarily mean that you lack talent. It might just mean that you're repeating the same mistakes over and over. I don't mean YOU personally BTW, I meant that generically

I used to tell my piano students (who always wanted to do it correctly on the first try) you wouldn't scold a baby for falling down while learning to walk. It's just the natural way of learning things, you're going to fall down a lot. Same thing with learning to run, math, grammer, riding a bike... we all take it for granted that kids suck at things at first until they do it enough times to be better at it. Somehow, as adults, we are expected to not go through the same learning process

The key, I think, is to not only learn from your mistakes, but also learn how to stop repeating your mistakes.
