Feature film that I scored got into the Maine festival...

Hey, all -

I've been super-absent from the forum for the first part of this year, largely for happy reasons - tons of work.

One such project is a film called Warrior Woman, which you can learn about and see the trailer for at www.warriorwomanfilm.com (yep, the music in the trailer is stuff that I created for the movie, thank goodness -- there were about 50 cues in the movie, so I was plenty busy).

We just had our cast & crew screening last week (thanks to my TAXI and local New Mexico buddy Anne for coming to that with me!! love you!), and that was a pretty amazing experience. We just about packed a 650-seat historic local theater (the KiMo), our use of which was sponsored by the state film office, and it was attended by folks from the state and Albuquerque film offices. The support was incredible. There were, of course, close to 200 people involved in the production, which is why the state and city execs were so hip to it. I also used three local bands in the soundtrack, which felt really good.

Anyway, the film has been scheduled to show at the Maine International Theater Festival coming right up in August. It's in Waterville, Maine. I would really love it if any of you could catch the screening and tell me how it goes! The director and the star, Karen Young, will both be there. Should be cool. BTW, the movie is for grown-ups. In fact the first word of dialogue is "sh*t." LOL...

So -- the TAXI tie-in? TAXI didn't get me this gig, but they helped me succeed at it. My production skills get better just about every day and I credit TAXI with that, mainly by providing a big fat wake-up call when I first joined regarding where the bar was. I immediately understood that I needed to improve and I've been working on it ever since. The sound editor, who has dealt with a lot of local composers/musicians, paid me some really nice compliments about my mixes, so I'm pretty thrilled.

That is awesome CK. Hope the film makes it to all theatre's everywhere or at least to my area! Or I'll wait for video.
