Just wanted to drop a note. I paid for a critique and got a really nice one. I'm happy with it. It was detailed, highlighted the strong points, gave detailed suggestions in each area where it pointed out problems or flaws. You know, I've had lots of critiques from lots of different sources: NSAI, local NSAI groups, publishers, attendees at 3 conferences other than Taxi (West Coast Songwriters, Kauai Music Festival, ASCAP Expo) and so far, Taxi critiques are by far the most detailed, and the most helpful.
I'm really glad to be able to get this kind of information. I used to hate it. Hated every critique I got. They all hurt, they all discouraged me but the longer I listen and work with it, the more I come to see that this may be the most valuable resource available in an industry with little to no structure for initiating new talent.
Nicely done

Re: Pro Critique
I totally agree with how valuable this service is. I feel like it's one of the secret, under-utilized, completely worth the money, hard-to-find kind of service. Don't tell too many people; shhhhh ;~)jonathansorensen wrote:Taxi critiques are by far the most detailed, and the most helpful.

Re: Pro Critique
How long did it take to get your custom critique back after you paid for it ?

Re: Pro Critique
I had one come back in under a week and I've had one in two. Now I've been waiting on one for about 3-4 so it probably varies greatly. I have lots of songs and projects going at any one time so I just work on other stuff till I get the feedback.88keys wrote:How long did it take to get your custom critique back after you paid for it ?

Re: Pro Critique
Just got a Pro Critique back and imo is was definitely worth it for a couple of reasons :
a) on Y/N listings you can order a pro critique and get some detailed feedback on where you went wrong and where you could (still) improve the track....but more than anything else, it eliminated that feeling of empty limbo that you get when you were just rejected outright with no critique available.
b) the critique that I just received was very, very good. The reviewer constantly made reference to the Taxi listing, the artists referenced in the listing, and specific compositional, dynamic elements to listen for and incorporate in my track that would bring my track closer to the artists referenced.
c)a "fresh ear" is also a really valuable thing....albeit too late for this listing (humph)... but, at least in this case it was a skilled musician/producer that knew what to listen for and knew how to communicate where to improve my track.
