Hooray! I got my first forward!

Post by amberjn » Fri Jul 22, 2011 7:51 pm

Hi, everybody!

I just got news of my first forward! It was for a quick turnaround listing. I wrote and recorded it in two days, which is a record for me! I even played some guitar (which I don't play, I'm a bass player XD ). The song is "You Make It Easy (Extended)" on my taxi page http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.p ... tlefingers

And do you know why I got a forward? Because of Taxi TV on UStream, especially the one I saw with Michael doing mock screening sessions. Without that, I wouldn't have known how big a deal it was to stay away from certain lyrical/story ideas in songs for commercial listings. So, THANK YOU, MICHAEL! Oh, and sorry about all the exclamation points. I'm just thrilled that everything came together.

The listing is:

Huge NY Ad Agency URGENTLY needs a "QUIRKY, SIMPLE, INDIE BAND or SINGER/SONGWRITER SONG --or-- INSTRUMENTAL for a NATIONAL TV COMMERCIAL for a huge Consumer Electronics brand. ESTIMATED FEE: $10,000 for SONG version - no idea for the Instrumental version. They need a little bounce, some contemporary hipness, Indie-ness, catchy/memorable melody and lyrics (if you submit a song) that are about "Life is easier," "Easy," or "You make my life Easier." They are NOT looking for a relationship song, so leave the lovey-dovey stuff at home. This spot is about how this company and the product/service it sells make life EASY. TAXI Tip: Additional lyric themes that could work; "You're always there for me, "You're always there when I need you," "You're always there, making my life easy (easier)," "Life is easier when you're around or when you're with me." MALE or FEMALE VOCALS are BOTH okay for this if you submit a song. Keep it Indie sounding, not jingle-y! FULL-LENGTH SONGS (if you include lyrics) or 30 second versions (for Instrumentals) are both okay to submit. NO BIG PRODUCTIONS--KEEP IT SIMPLE and make it COOL and INDIE-Sounding. DO NOT title your submission like you would for a music library pitch. This is DIRECT-to-the-Agency, so you'll KEEP 100% of this deal with NO Publisher Splits! Broadcast Quality is needed (excellent home recordings are fine). You must own or control 100% of the Master and Composition rights. If you ARE chosen, the Ad Agency will contact you DIRECTLY. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. Include LYRIC SHEETS where applicable. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS. NO FULL CRITIQUES FROM TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than THURSDAY, JULY 21st at 1pm, (PDT). TAXI Listing #Y110721SS

Thanks, Cher!

I like that the songs that folks shared that have been forwarded for this listing are so different. It makes it fun to see how the same listing inspires the songwriters here!

Hi amberjn--

Congrats!

I liked your track. Lots of fun. I could use more of those drums...but that's just me.

I agree with you & Cher...Taxi always gives us the best information to succeed.

Good luck,
JT

We used to call that "The Dispatch Challenge"... write a new piece of music in just a few days in order to make the Dispatch deadline. If you get forwarded, you win the challenge! Congratulations. 8-)

Congrats Amber, You mentioned your not a guitar player, I am and I think it's the guitar that adds to the playfulness of the track.
Just goes to show , sometimes bad is good. I mean that in a nice way.
Good luck
Bruce
