a little clarity??

Post by nakedsamurai » Fri Jul 29, 2011 3:08 am

I guess I need some clarity here..I submitted my song "Ain't Gonna Take the Bait" for this listing. I can't name names however, folks in the "a la" category really dug this song (my uncle reps a blues label). However, it was returned by Taxi with little reason why. Obviously it sucks to get a return. However, I have found that generally Taxi returns contain some helpful guidance. I am just not clear on this one.

The Listing:
ENERGETIC HIT BLUES SONGS needed for a veteran Blues Harmonica Player a la Kim Wilson, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, etc., for his next CD project. He's looking specifically for Electric Blues songs and will have guest performances on his tracks, so this is a great opportunity for Blues writers. If you can deliver songs with the powerful style of tracks like The Fabulous Thunderbird's "Tuff Enuff" and "Wrap It Up", then you've definitely got a shot at collaborating with a pro! Songs that have outstanding melodies with a sharp Blues edge, that also combine raw, straight-ahead and pull-no-punches lyrics are most welcome! Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than Wednesday, July 6, 2011. TAXI #Y110706BL

Review:
Graphic lyric, ' rope around my neck'.. good blues attitude, imagery.. ' high heels, fish net', etc.. yet do more with this title melody..no need to keep repeating the same line. melody and phrase..

The listing says it's a Yes/No listing with no critique, so the fact that you did get some comments is a bonus in this case. Take what you can from this and move on, submit the song again to other listings that it may fit and keep working on your music. You will be returned more than you will be forwarded in this business so spending a lot of energy on one return will only serve to distract you.

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!
