My First Professional Studio Demo

Post by rweav » Mon Aug 01, 2011 5:10 pm

OK, I played this song standing in line at last year's Road Rally and the people around me were very encouraging so I finally decided to take the plunge and I sent a Guitar/Vocal demo to Nashville Demo Studio (who I met at the Rally) and gave them the OK to do their magic. Chip Hardy produced it and I was pretty happy with the results. Here is a link to the song with lyrics http://ricktunes.com/Songs/Audio/headin_out_audio.htm I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks to Jimi and all of the guys at NDS for a wonderful experience. I'm readying the next song right now...

Thanks for the encouragement! I took a day off and drove the 200 miles to Nashville and they let me sit in the control room while the session players recorded the Basic Tracks for five very different songs. It was amazing to watch these great musicians take a song from worktape to finished tracks (minus vocals) in 30 minutes or less. I sat in on one of Chip Hardy's classes at the Rally last year and working with him as the Producer on a song was amazing.

OH I SOOOO agree!...I had the same pleasure in May....Chip was in charge for that too!....it was soooo awesome!!!!

I took a whole week off and travelled from Denmark, both to co-write and record....so a bit longer travel than yours LOL (like 6000 miles x 2 I think!?)....and MAN!!!....You get hooked, don't ya!? 8-)

MUST do MORE!!!!

I met Chip at the RR last year too! First at the mentor lunch and later at his lecture....etc. So it was like meeting an old friend when I got there! Isn't that just cool too? :D

See you at the Rally, I hope!...? 8-)

Rick! Great song, and the demo is right on the money. Slammin' drums, and fine arrangement. You must be stoked!

Best Regards,

Ern 8-) :)

Thanks, Ern. I am really fired up! I hope to start the next demo in a couple of weeks. Gotta build up my catalog.

Nice to meet you Rick

I don't know what you had to pay for this service, but it was done really well.

Like that freedom feeling it gives me.

Reminds me slightly of "runnin on empty" (lookin out at the road rushin under my wheels)

Congrats

Sincerely

Paul

Paul,

Thanks for the comment. The cost was $603.00 and worth every penny. It was definitely meant to be a cruising down the highway kind of song. When I sing it it really has that Eagles/Jackson Browne vibe. That's why I went the Nashville Demo route. I wanted it to sound more "relevant" and I believe that's what I got.

I think you could have got Jimi down to $600 if you tried harder.

Congratulations on the nice track. 8-)
