Quote:Yep, I joined, some of you met me at the Road Rally, I was mostly called Mr. Kelly Greene...although the one guy that called me K-Fed was funny. I've spent the last few months building a studio, so now I plan on making some money off of it, and Taxi seems like the perfect place. All the dots were great, lotta talent in the room, I could just feel the creativity soaking in to me like osmosis. Those of you who met me know I'm pretty down to earth, but won't put up with much crap. I met alot of people that were great and who were there to learn, most of the people that were the nicest were ones that already have deals but they don't flaunt it, they offer advice, that everyone should take. And they were encouraging. Also met the ones that thought they were the shiznit and did nothing but complain about Taxi, twice I said to people, "If you hate it so much, why the fudge are you here?" (I changed out the curse word for posterity's sake.)I work with Kelly Greene (kg on the boards), I manage and play guitar for her, she's hot and I married her too. Of course a stud like me only deserves the hottest chick.Any ways, I'm ranting, just wanted to introduce myself, say hi to all the dots, and get this party started!Hello, Mr Greene, welcome to the Forum, it's a pleasure to have you here!!!!cheersHummin'bird

Quote:Welcome to the new forum dwellers.Kurt, I saw the Shamu show a couple of years ago in Orlando, and yes, I was one of the idiots near the front who got a drenching all good fun tho.David,Thanks for the welcome. Sorry about the drenching. I have often wondered why we do this to the guests. But believe it or not, many of them show up hoping to get drenched. We call and label those sections of seats as the "Soak Zone" and many guests actually prefer them. Would not be for me though.Kurt

Quote:Hey everybody,I am a newbie to Taxi....My name is Brian Jones a 28 year old singer/ songwriter from Tampa, FL. I am really excited to be a part of Taxi and the message boards. One of the reasons I signed up for Taxi, is because I really liked the spirit of the boards and the buzz that was happening. Keep it up and so will I. Check out my music if any of you all get a chance, and i will make sure to stay busy writing music and posting on the board. Re: Forum Newbies... a few thoughts
Hey guys & gals,Another newb here. Name is Bruce, originally from the"Chi", but recently moved to the 'burbs' for the kids sakes.Been a part of music since about 9 or 10. Started with drums, then guitar, bass, and later (in my 20's) keys. Absolutelylove trying to create music. Mostly did it for a hobby, but saw some other producer friends of mine making a living at it, and said to myself I gotta' get in on this. So now I'm a wholelot more serious about it, and have more purpose and reason, than I did before. After receiving numerous offers to join TAXI (the past several years, every time I would submit a copyrightto the Library of Congress ) I finally decided to get over the cost of admission, and recently took the plunge this past September. I figured "I got nobody to listen to my stuff except all my musical buddies". They critique me. But they're not necessarily interested in gettin' me any deals. So I figured maybe TAXI'll have me. And so, here I am. I'll be asking questions when necessary(unless I find the answer on the forum first), and I'll definitely be posting songs for my new family to critique for me (before submitting). Actually, that's part of the reason I haven't done much posting, 'cause I'm workin' on something for y'all to critique for me. I'm in the mixing stage right now. So soon as I'm done, I'll post. In the meantime, I'm glad to hear all the kindness that everyone is extending, and looking forward to interactin' with everyone. Gotta' go!ibanez468

Re: Forum Newbies... a few thoughts
Hello and greetings from Montreal, I'm new to the forum, having only posted one question in the "technical" section. I've been spending a fair amount of time checking out the strings. This year was my first visit to the Road Rally and I got the message loud and clear from Michael that I should take advantage of this resource, so...here I am! I don't know how much anyone cares about my background, but I'll write a quick bio as an introduction. My name is Michael Wanner. I've been active as a pro/semi pro musician and composer for about twenty five years now. I've giged a lot, working as a jazz pianist, orchestral percussionist and drummer, bluegrass bassist and theatrical and commercial composer. I immigrated to Quebec from New York State about fifteen years ago and slipped into a routine of playing club dates. I've had some exciting moments in my career, but would like to concentrate more on my first love, writing and recording. I joined Taxi a few years back and have had a pretty good forwarding rate. At one point I received an offer from a woman at BMG who wanted to represent me. Unfortunately, through a series of unfortunate events, I did'nt receive the message until six months later. I went through a divorce and the death of both my parents during that period and basically just played bar gigs and quit writing for about two years afterwards. I reemerged with the realization that there is a lot to look forward to in life! I got a couple of good tunes out of it all and rejoined Taxi after investing in a new recording setup. I've had five out of the eight tunes I've sent in forwarded and I am genuinely psyched about making a career out of TV/Film music. So there is my intro. I enjoy reading all of the personal stories posted here and really hope the best for all of you. I met some really focused people at the Rally this year and hope to read lots of success stories in the months to come. Salut! Michael

Re: Forum Newbies... a few thoughts
Hey Allen, Thanks for the good thoughts. I visited your site and enjoyed your stuff, especially the sitar playing. I read in an older string that you got to accompany Ravi Shankar in concert. I love that stuff. I studied with Gary Peacock in Seattle who did an album with Shankar and Bud Shank back in the early sixties. What a sound! I wish you the best.Michael
