Ahhhh!!!! What a great Rally - AGAIN! Way to go, Michael and the TAXI staff. I have to tell you, I've been to a few Rally's through the years, but this was by far my favorite! Why? Cuz I joined the forum after last year's Rally. I got to know so many people through the forum over the last year that when I got to the Rally this year, I felt instantly connected. Wearin' my "dot" and looking for other "dots" - and encouraging so many others who aren't yet on the forum to get on the forum when they get home. I can't tell you how many people approached me and said "Are you Cher-bear?" It was really cool to meet forum buds face to face. One big hug fest :D My kind of party!! ;)

Once again, thanks Michael and Taxi staff - and a SPECIAL thank you to Kevin Houlihan for being so awesome and making my day, and to Craig for randomly picking my CD to get played at the Film/TV Pitch Panel!!

TAXI just gets better every year!
Cher :)

Okay, so this was my first rally and I was skeptical about going, but my friend Vince Russo talked me into it and I am so glad he did. Without a doubt, it will be an annual event for me. Michael and the the whole TAXI staff pulled off a life affirming and life changing experience for all who came. There was such a feeling of community with so many talented people sharing their experiences and insights and such a sense that everyone there is not just out for themselves but willing and ready to help others in our mutual quest.

So, thank you, all...TAXI staff and members. Oh, and I plan on becoming a regular here on the forum.

Cheers,
John

Thank you Michael, and Taxi crew, for an absolutely amazing weekend! I am still buzzing from the experience! I went to the Rally to learn, and boy did I learn! Much of what I learned was about the music industry, yet more importantly, I learned about a community of like minded hearts and souls that genuinely believe in what their doing despite any pitfalls, starting from the speakers themselves. I come away inspired to go to the next level and beyond!

Keep doing what you do, its great! :)

Cheers,
Vincent!

This was my first rally since joining TAXI in June. I was unsure about whether to come as I live in the UK, but can honestly say it was totally worth it. Being so far away, being able to see all these people face to face was so important to me, I think I can sum it up with one of my experiences from the rally :-

I had my first forward for a listing sometime in July. I did a bit of my own detective work on the net and referencing the listing and the name on the certificate and figured out what TV show the listing had most likely been forwarded for. In one of the panels, one of the panelists was introduced as (among other things) a TAXI screener AND a representative for that show. I approached them after the panel was done and said that I think they were likely responsible for that forward and discovered that they were. Not only did they remember the track (which I thought was hugely impressive given the amount of material these guys have to listen to!) but they actually turned round and said 'Oh yeah, and this is actually the guy it was forwarded to!'. Sure enough I turned round and the name on this guys VIP badge was the same as the one on my forward certificate!

Spoke very briefly to the supervisor and he said he'd still got all the CD's from those forwards, which to me was just fantastic, knowing that my music had made it into the hands of an industry guy. Living in a fairly rural area in the UK, that sort of thing just wouldn't happen to me without TAXI, and wouldn't happen without the rally. Such a cool thing to happen and I was grinning for the rest of the day!

Thankyou to everyone at TAXI. It was a hugely positive experience and I feel energised and excited as a result (even through the jet-lag!).

Already can't wait to get back there next year. :D

The "Garden of Eden" for musicians is the feeling I came away with.... one mind, one goal, one place.

First Rally and already dreaming of next year....

What a life changing experience! It was a pleasure meeting you Michael, along with everyone else. I felt more at home with everyone at the Rally than I do......well, at home :D
I would have to say that Michael is one of the coolest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet (wardrobe excluded ;) ). In that he is the president of this music industry business, and yet he talks to and treats everyone like they are an old friend. I've met people in the "music biz" without an ounce of credit or much success to their name that act like their sh#t doesn't stink. And the best part is that the rest of the Taxi staff was the same way. They're all people that have been in the business for years, and yet "on and off the set" so to speak, there was not a shred of ego in any of them.
I can't begin to imagine the amount of work they all put into the Rally, but it made my year........better yet, decade :D :D :D

So nice to meet all of you.
Paul

A huge "Thank you!", to Michael and all the Taxi staff, the faculty, the Dots and the hotel crew for making the Rally such an amazing, life-changing event! Also, what Mazz said. ;)

Hey Michael,

I think that this is my seventh year in a row at the Taxi Rally - and they just keep getting better and better. Wouldn't miss it for anything. It's like a great big family reunion with a few new kids being born or adopted each year. I love it! There is always more to learn, more to pay-forward, more friends to make and more scotch to drink ;-)

Thanks to you and your staff for another stellar, STELLAR Road Rally.

:-)
