Well, fun, fun!!The hospital where I have my imaging and blood work done and where I get my Interferon has had their Medicaid and Medicare yanked. They released this to the public on Friday on the 7:00 PM news. Part of the backlash is insurance companies not covering policy holders that receive services there, mine being one of them. So, BOY-O-BOY, am I caught in a scramble. I was supposed to get a CT scan, bloodwork and pick up my Interferon this week. Thus, Monday I shall spend on the phone finding out what, exactly, my doctors want me to do. Trouble is there's a bit of urgency to this. I really need to get my shot Monday or the side effects start to kick back in. We have to find a place that will take payments, too. I mean, the CT scan is about $2000 and the Interferon is about $600 a week, not to mention the bloodwork.Sheesh!!, nice of 'em to give us fair warning so we could make other arrangements. Like I said,"Fun, Fun!!".

!?!?!? Very frustrating. Check with your doctors to see if they have privileges at another hospital. If so then they can do the work at the other hospital and your insurance company would cover it. Most docs have privileges at more than one hospital. Good Luck.dr

If it's the hospital in Haywood, they say could be as early as 30 days OR as long as a couple of months before it gets Medicare/Medicaid reimbursements again. Kind of odd don't you think...The hospital president and CEO, David Rice, announce his retirement the day after the hospital failed the re-inspection from the state.dr

It turns out anything scheduled before all this at the hospital will be covered 'til the 10th or the 23rd. So, my CT scan is okay, and my Interferon is covered for 4 more shots. I'm gonna try to squeeze the bloodwork in tomorrow. That, at least, will give me a week to find out where to get Interferon and a month to find another place for bloodwork and scans. I'm in contact w/ my Dr.. So, something should come around soon.

Well, we're off tomorrow to have the Ct scan read. Say a prayer for me. I always get nervous before these.

Got a call from the Oncologist today. He said nothing had changed in my chest, and there was a very negligible growth in my belly. Called it a "Sonometer" (?!!). Since we do not know the rate of growth with this stuff, he doesn't know what to tell me. But, he feels the best thing to do is continue with my current course of action, which means Interferon indefinitely. Ah, well!! I'll take that as good news. At least he didn't say, " I think we should move up to chemo". Don't think I'd look good bald (Neither does my bride). No change means no growth. So, to me, he had good news. My church is going to have a special prayer session for me Sunday. Can't go wrong with prayer. He always gets it right.
