Hey Ottluck,
I never have any luck finding how a songwriter charts. He pitches songs in Europe so we may not know the real deal anyway.
Here's a bit from the bio on his website, have no idea how old the info is:

"JASON BLUME is one of the few songwriters to ever achieve the distinction of having his songs on Billboard’s Pop, R&B, and Country charts - - all at the same time. With his songs recorded by pop superstars Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys, and Jesse McCartney as well as country stars including Collin Raye, the Oak Ridge Boys and John Berry, and international artists like the Gipsy Kings, and Japanese superstar Tomohisa Yamashita, Blume’s songs are included on albums that have sold more than 50 million copies!"

I was taking a break so I googled a little. I didn't see a whole lot, a few minor hits maybe. I think he's probably more into books and telling others how now. I think you just learn what you can and ignore the hype if you're able, lol. It's like the wizard doctor on tv, Dr. Oz, there might be a few tidbits here and there of real info, personally I can't help it, I do mock parroting voice overs if I'm within earshot, everythings always "shocking", epidemic, amazing, it's pretty pathetic actually. Show docs,

Hello Ottluck and Judy,
You were inquiring about Jason Blume
and Judy posted some great info
and I'd like to offer some inspiring info If I may. :)
Which does fit this songwriter thread.

Jason's is a great lyricst and melody writer, plus author etc..
When we wrote together I was blown away to know that most of his successful cuts
came from him "humming" out his purest melody's in his phone , dictaphone, etc.
without an instrument , said it made him write freely ....and then of course collaborating with producers / musicians.....well thats alot of hits!
So we got to working both his way and mine for Popstars /Idol songs pitches , and fast and inspiring it was for both.
And as I always do, I put my best foot forward -I produced /programmed and sang the demo till the man smiled ear to ear, and till the cows came home.
So great experience ..... It didnt make the cut here in Canada (no kidding ) but 2 yrs later as Judy quoted in her text
it did go on Japan's "Yamashita Tomahisa 's Platinum cd. :P

So regarding this songwriter thread -,
ya never know where /when it will come from, but if you kept at it , and put the Blood Sweat Tears in , it will pay off.

Johnny
