"Time Is On My Side"/Listing #Y120314SS question

Like many ad listings, #Y120314SS, which is for a cover of "Time Is On My Side", indicates, "faded endings are recommended for this." On this specific one, the listing also mentions, "your members need to do only one full verse and chorus." Nowhere in the listing, though, does it mention the amount of time needed for the spot.

The question I have, thus, is how does one plan a faded ending without knowing the amount of time needed? If the fadeout happens too soon, the recording isn't long enough. If it happens too late, it would seem like it's tantamount to not having a faded ending at all. Were I on the other end of receiving a piece like this, I'd probably be looking for the whole song, or at least a longer piece of it than I needed for my spot, so I could deal with optimizing any fadeout to fit my needs, not only on the length front, but also in terms of any voiceover considerations. But, of course, I'm not on the receiving end, so I'd like to try and understand what is preferred.

I think anything in the area of 60-90 seconds that has at 1-2 cycles with the chorus and verse would be fine. I'd just make a fade on your last start of the "Time is on my side" hook. As long as you give them the meat, you're OK. The reason for the fade end is to make it sound less like production library music.

While it’s important to follow listing requirements very carefully, it’s also important not to overanalyze too much. If your approach knocks their socks off—well, that’s what will matter.

Thanks, guys. I'm running down to the wire. Think I may end up loading the whole song up. Or maybe the whole song and a quick-faded version if I can find a place in the right ballpark.

P.S. - I ended up submitting the whole thing and one 60-second version which ended up fading to just past the point of the second verse's, "time is on my side, yes it is." The full version can now be heard on my TAXI profile page (I didn't make the clip version public). I'm pretty sure it won't sound like library music. Hopefully it will sound like broadcast quality and in a style they like, though. I think I got it in about 5 minutes before the deadline. Now to make my instrumental mix...

Craig, thanks for posting the question and thanks to those who gave suggestions because I was wondering about the same thing.

Got a submission in just under the ORIGINAL deadline. If they extended the timeline does that mean that they already listened and know that don't like what they have so far? just wondering what ya'll think.

Shacklett, I was hoping we got bonus points for submitting by the original deadline. Your arrangement was cool. My main reservation, specifically with respect to fit for this listing (i.e. not the arrangement or performance in and of itself), is I'm not sure how it would fit the "SIMPLE, SINCERE and EMOTIONAL" (their stress, not mine) aspect.
