Well, at least you guys can change your sounds to stay current. What do you do when your singing style (and the sound of your voice) is not current anymore?

^^^ Short answer. The harder thing is to revamp your singing style to better suit your vocal timbre; it helps if you can find a model, somebody with a similar timbre or vocal quality, preferably someone working in a current and popular style. That can be hard to identify in a singer who doesn't sing in your style or genre, so the best way is probably to sing along with lots of recordings and do lots of covers in lots of styles. I had to learn to sing all over again after I quit smoking. I also had to ditch the SM58 as it brings out the worst in my natural vocal timbre, a very nasal quality that I find extremely unpleasant. (but it cuts through well in a Hank Williams sorta way; without the 58, I can do a pretty mean Elvis, it turns out)

When and if you do go with a new program. Obviously there's gonna be a huge learning curve. I would totally recommend macprovideo they have helped me out soooooo much. They have video tutorials on A LOT of software, NI as well. I just got Ableton Live 8 ( very different from PT8) and have been steadily go through there videos...... i think its about $25 a month for unlimited streaming. It's helped me heaps
all the best
