Re: Chuck and Mazz score jazz!
I signed up for the forums just to ask this question! lol.. my first post btw.
Anyways.. I went to school for Jazz piano at UNT .. (and now am trying my luck at the sync scene).. but I have various recordings of jazz trio's and such. I was wondering if you got a signed agreement from all of the players to release their "creations" and/or playing to be licensed before you registered these pieces.. ?
I have lots of recordings that are gathering digital dust because I am confused about the policy. I didn't have them sign anything, so does that mean I can't license them without their consent? Thanks for any input.

Hi Guys--
All three of my tunes were forwarded n this listing to the music supervisor, which was then forwarded to the"top music supervisor". Have you heard anything back from them yet? I haven't.
Lemme know, s'il vous plait--
Niall

Re: Chuck and Mazz score jazz!
We absolutely got signed work for hire agreements and also talent releases because we had some video done of the sessions. This means that the players have released any interest in the recordings above and beyond their session fee and also we are free to use any video of them on any promo materials, YouTube, etc.samuelwitt wrote:I signed up for the forums just to ask this question! lol.. my first post btw.

We are shooting high and as such agreements such as this are mandatory. The high end clients are very careful about this stuff.
You gotta have your releases. When you sign with a publisher, a standard part of any contract I've seen is that you warrant that you (and your co-writer(s)) control 100% of the rights to the music you are signing over. If you don't have releases and the bass player from college hears her playing on TV and demands a cut from the network or production company, they're going to come after you and ask WTF.
That's show biz!!
Thanks everyone for the kind words as well!!
