Most contradictive listing ever :)

Post by chrismichols » Mon Jul 16, 2012 1:17 pm

TOP TIER HOLLYWOOD MUSIC SUPERVISOR needs MID-to-UPTEMPO ROCK and ALTERNATIVE ROCK for a MAJOR FEATURE FILM.Ê They're looking for SONGS influenced by bands from the 1990s like Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins...

After reading that long I went "Yay, finally a listing for all of my early 2000's post-grunge bands songs".
Then I read:

The tone of YOUR SONG should be POSITIVE, UPLIFTING or FUN.Ê They're NOT looking for dark, sad or depressing songs

Hmmm, what Pearl Jam or Smashing Pumpkins song could ever fit in to any of those criterias?

Well, the listing also name bands that I haven't heard and maybe they have songs that fit in to those criterias.

Well well, nothing to whine about really, just found it a bit funny and had to see if anyone else had the same thoughts on this.

Now, back to reading the listings!

/Chris

Edit:The listing actually asks for songs influenced by and not specifically similar to any of those bands songs but I still find it hard to see how a band influenced by Pearl Jam would generally make songs that would fit in to those criterias. So I guess the fault here is mine and the way I interpret the word influenced

Hi Chris,

I guess you could say "Today" by the Pumpkins is positive? I don't know. :? I had a similar thought seeing that particular listing being of that generation...

I had fun listening to a bunch of songs from that era though. :D - Roger

Yeah, I see your point. Maybe they want the tone of the music to be Pearl Jam-esque, but they want a positive-sounding lyric?
