How much closer do i have to get?

Post by BruceBrown » Mon Jul 16, 2012 3:25 pm

I got my song DIXIE TATTOO returned for the listing below. The first artists referenced were the Allman Brothers Band.
Screener checked the music box.
Please my Taxi friends, listen to this track and help me understand. This return has me baffled.
Thanks

Since this was screened by the owner of the company that ran the listing and since the music box was checked, IMO that says to me that he just didn't like the track.

Thanks Barry,
I guess it's that simple sometimes huh?
Oh well. I got another track out of the deal. I'll pitch it elsewhere.
See you Wed. night.

Yeah, didn't like the track, or more likely it just wasn't what the owner was looking for this time around. I had a return on this one too, and I can see that the track I submitted would only be a good fit for a certain type of scene. My track starts slow and soft and builds to a stronger rock finish ... not exactly Freebird  but in that type of family.

Really awesome track Bruce! I'd imagine you'll be able to find a home for this no problem!

Hi Bruce,

I was also returned with just the music box checked for a track that had a strong CCR/Fogerty vibe to it. My hunch is this particular person was looking for things closer to the country side of country rock. For example "Going Up The Country" by Canned Heat, which I'm almost positive I've heard used on TV before. It sounds like other more rock oriented tracks were also returned. However they did say "GRITTY" (in caps yet) so maybe that's wrong, I really don't know.... Maybe our definitions of gritty aren't quite the same as his?

Anyway this is all subjective without hearing some of the ones that actually made it through. Write, forget, repeat (or whatever it is they say around here ). - Roger

Man that track is Jammin. I LOVE it. I agree with the rest of the guys posting here. Must have simply wanted something else. Was not due to your work for sure. Really good song. Thanks for sharing.
