Post by deantaylor » Sat Jul 28, 2012 11:40 am

..
UPDATED MIX, Aug 4, per your comments/suggestions. Thanks.
Mainly we fixed up the harmonies and added some ad-libs in the last 2 chors for variation.
Please tell us what you think now.

A nice swampy blues song, then an unexpected sweet female country vocal. Then at the hook, the melisma of the word "off" sounds confused, and ends before it goes anywhere, but I'm a little confused also to where it might or should go?? The genre and gender style makes me think a lift, though the blues style might lead to something different. I'm trying to picture, take pause, pause, pause, pause, OFF!!?? I'm not very comfortable with my opinion, so I'd be curious to see what someone else thinks.

Hey Dean... !

Cool 'swampy' blues song as already coined above... love the gitar playin.

I agree some mild pitchiness in the vocal yet, most noted on the chorus and or unusual harmony choice. It wears a little by the last chorus for me... maybe some additional ear candy or parts to help build up the later chorus's would help that....

Otherwise good clean sound to my ears... Would like to hear that simple intro kick drum creep back during the bridge to keep momentum...

Hey Dean

Gettin down here:)

Love what she does with the vox at the "take off" series. Slightly pitchy on the low notes.

At that point I hear too much on my left and very little on the right??

The take off sticks man:)

Fun

Hi all! Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions..If possible, when referencing a pitch, panning, mix, etc.. issue could you note the word or the time where you hear it? It would help me to fix it faster.

Thank you for taking the time to listen and offer opinions! :)

Cool tune guys... Nice job! 8-)

The only suggestion is along the lines of what Yammer said... Do something to change the repetitiveness of the sound as it progresses--- more build, different harmonies, instrumentation changes, etc. (Not sure what)...

Best of luck with it!

morgen wrote:@ Casey, do you have a suggestion for what kind of harmonies? 3rd and 5ths are out because they don't work with the key and chords..What would you suggest? What I have there is a +4th Thanks
Hey Morgen... Definitely not my area of knowledge so I can't say. It's that I hear the need for more variety and build... eliminate the "sameness"... Sorry, if that's not the most helpful. I'm sure others can give suggestions.

Maybe pick some 'a la' acts and listen for ideas?

You got something cool going on here. 8-) I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Best,
Casey
