Hi Dean. I really like the vibe up to chorus - very Creedence. I’m not sure about the chorus melody at 0.29. It sits uneasily on the groove - and the harmony vocal doesn’t blend well for me – especially on the word ‘off”. I’d suggest clipping the melody on the word “off”. The breakdown is interesting. Perhaps it would be a good idea to bring in the kick stomp from the intro here? The guitar parts throughout are really cool. There seems to be an extra tambourine hit at the end. Cheers, Doug

VERY country sounding. Go for a Key change so you can put in typical country sounding harmonies... use your relative scale for inspiration... IF ya don't know what that is, I can't help you.

I see your harmony dilemma; I cant help think perhaps the root note chosen (lead vocal) is a bit odd on the word "off". Shes on an 'A' and I feel like it needs to be 'B flat'. Shes really hitting whats called a 'passing tone' on a blues scale in G. While this sounds great & funky on guitar its rough being the center of a vocal part, IMO. Did you try a high D drone harmony? That seems to work with the A, just fidgeting on piano here.....

Great feedback everyone. Much appreciated. We are mulling it over. Trying to decide what rings true to us, before changing anything.

I find the comments on the 'off' melisma interesting. Personally, I'm like Paul, I find it very hooky.

Thanks for the ala Doug.

I like this. Morgens vocals sounds awesome!
Bouncy track, sounds 70'ies inspired like much contemporary country does.

I'd say this is country blues a la Lucinda Williams and maybe early Bonnie Raitt..

I wanted to add in... I think it's very country sounding, especially when compared to CCR. I probably should have said that in the first place.

After listening again a few times... with fresh morning ears... I actually like everything as is. It's it's own unique song imho. I think the mix is very well done. The vocals sound quite good to me as is. Is the song a #1 hit song? I don't think so, but it could be a top 100 imho.

Thanks Magne. Good to get more alas.
Thanks rnr .. getting a second listen opinion is great!

I had this for genre: Rock, Roots Rock, Blues Rock, Rockabilly, Rock and Roll
But maybe I'm off base. Would you delete some of those?
Should I add Country Rock? or does Rockabilly cover that?

UPDATED MIX, Aug 4, per your comments/suggestions. Thanks!
Mainly we fixed up the harmonies and added some ad-libs in the last 2 chors for variation.
Please tell us what you think now.
