The Scarbee stuff is all very high quality. As far as the "best" Rhodes sound, well Rhodes is pretty well represented out there in the sample-verse. Most keyboard players go for a nice combination of sound and how it feels when you play it, that "finger ear connection" thing. Scarbee tends to capture that aspect really well. The Rhodes sound is pretty malleable with effects, etc., so a good dry Rhodes sound that has a good expressive feel is the way to go, then you can add the effects to taste yourself.

On the Wurli side, I'm hearing great things about Sonic Couture's Broken Wurli; it just made the wishlist, after auditioning the demo. +1 on the Scarbee Rhodes, but SC's is also a contender, I think particularly for triphop, as it's been used much in that genre.

The Scarbee Wurli in Komplete 8 is just as good as the Broken Wurli. The only thing you get with the Broken Wurli is the samples of the semi blown speaker. If you like that kind of thing, it's cool, otherwise, I'm not sure it's worth the extra money.

I"m sure you know that a Rhodes and a Wurli are two different instruments, right? Just checking, some folks might not be aware of that.

Cheers!

Great point mazz. Yes, they are different, I think I'm hearing Rhodes not wurlitzer in most trip hop/ chillout/ ambient music..... Right ?

Is Alex gopher's song "the child" Rhodes ? (sorry I don't have an iTunes link)
Please correct me if I'm wrong thou.... I don't want to buy the wrong VI's.

If you don't have Komplete or the full version of Kontakt and just need a Rhodes or Wurli, the SC versions are an okay deal, cuz they work with Kontakt's free Player, and are more than good enough for primetime.

well both the SC broken wurli plus EP73 ($89 + $129 = $218) VS. the Scarbee vintage keys (wurli, rhodes, and clavinet) ($169) run in kontakt player so its kind of a wash on that point. I have the Scarbee vintage keys and I agree with Mazz, it sounds good and the "feel" works - even for a mostly non-keys player like myself.

the child sounds more like rhodes than Wurli to me.
