Slow time for Instrumental Music?

Post by briandavidwatson » Tue Oct 30, 2012 2:48 pm

Hi all,

Recently, it seems as if there hasn't been a lot of listings for me to submit to. I mostly do instrumental music, when I joined here back in May I was submitting at least once a week and getting about 50/50 forward/return ratios, so it felt like I was making some progress. However over the last few months I've noticed that a lot of the listings are for Country, Pop and Rock stuff. I understand that things come and go, and there's phases in every medium, but it seems a little lop-sided. Is this just the nature of the beast or is TAXI not seeking out Instrumental music as much?

thanks, and I'm not complaining as much as inquiring...

I think it's the nature of the beast. There seems to be ups and downs in the needs of the business in general.

I can say that a 50/50 forward ratio is pretty darn good and eventually you will get hooked up with some publishers and then you'll end up writing for them and being busier than you can probably handle. That's been my experience anyway!!
Evocative Music For Media

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

it's not the gear, it's the ear!
