How to be in 3 places at once?

Hello Rally regulars,

I just printed the schedule and am making my own itinerary (so I don't have to think on the day of) and I am stuck already at 11:30 on Friday... I want to be in 3 places at once.

How do I choose what to do? Surely someone has had this happen so what is the best way to go about this dilemma? Should I have a back up plan, do rooms get that full or should I just pick what I think the most valuable is this time around?

Classes get packed fairly fast. One thing us "Dots" have done is share our notes from classes here on the forum, as it IS impossible to go to everything we'd like to!

Hehe. That would have been my suggestion as well, Stuart. But if Mike is anything like me... I could never get along with myself. Clonicide would be in order.

I have a focus area each year and that helps me narrow it down. One year it was taking all the songwriting classes to learn more about that side of the process, another year it was business and networking, another production.

You can't make a bad choice.

And yes, the classes fill up so be on time or you'll be standing in the back if they'll even let you in.

Stuart and Russell ... I so wish I could (Mike sometimes feels like he has multiple personalities but they all share the same body) but yeah, I would not get along with myself. Like that Seinfeld episode "worlds colliding"

I too am struggling with this happy dilemma.

My thought today is: I can get production tips from many different sources, but first-hand advice on how to structure and execute an attack plan might be harder to come by. Or, the super-specific classes on filmscoring etc. that is my current focus.

Do you guys agree?

If someone posted the production tips (recording, mixing, mastering)... I would feel really grateful.

I feel I am missing chunks of information in these areas so I still feel conflicted about skipping those.

Thoughts, or recommendations for a super good and easy book on the subject of recording etc. I am using Mixcraft, Studio One1, sometimes Cubase.

Hey. I'm totally lame, but is a detailed hour by hour schedule posted? I remember seeing a list of classes, but not times and locations. Could one of you post a link for me?

If you have that kind of conflict, make a choice, as best as you can, based on your own goals.

If the conflict is with an A&R listening panel, you can drop a CD but not be there. A friend can always tell you if they played your track. Of course, there are other great reasons to be at such a panel other than hoping they'll play your track (Learn how A&R folks hear things!!), but I find that many people are very focused (too much so!) on hoping their CD will get picked out of thousands.

And remember.... Most classes are repeated every year. You'll just have to come back next year for whatever you missed!
