I am working on a Big Beat instrumental for this listing. It seems to me that some "ohhh"s (more yelling that singing) would work great but I'm wondering if I'll get disqualified for having "vocals" in an instrumental.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Jack

It's too late for info regarding the particular listing.monarkeys wrote:I am working on a Big Beat instrumental for this listing. It seems to me that some "ohhh"s (more yelling that singing) would work great but I'm wondering if I'll get disqualified for having "vocals" in an instrumental.

But based on my experience from other listings, I would say background vocals 'aahh's or 'oohh's MAY disqualify for instrumental listings.
I've gotten returns on instrumentals where that is given as reason.
But, of course, it may also be that it is also easy and 'polite' of the screener to give that as a reason; if the screener did not like a song for many other reasons.
Perhaps, if s/he loved the song, and it was obvious it was great and fitted the listing except for some non-distracting oohs, the screener would let it pass.
Some instrumental listings say explicitly that choir background pads may be OK, or similar wordings.
For some genre's I consider it as just another instrument and many pads I may use in electronica may have choir samples mixed in.
I've gotten returns from a new age listing saying that the choir should be replaced since it was an instrumental listing. The choir samples were even reversed.
On the other hand I've gotten no negative reactions on choir pads in other listings.
In conclusion and from my perspective. Do whatever you must do to please yourself.
You may or may not get a return by using 'oohhs' in instrumentals.
To play safe, find other alternatives.
