Great stuff, listening to Rays Of Sunshine. You ought to run some seminars on production of guitar based stuff, stellar. DOn't know why I haven't run across you before. I've listened to the others guys stuff (Mazzy, etc) and like it as well but I would say they are in good company with you, and a rock guy no less. Very impressed. What are those awesome sounding drums and are you a software or mic to the amp guy or a whatever it takes sort of player? Problem with me (or a strength? ) is I want to do it all - orchestral/ electronica, guitar based rock, mix of both.

WHat impresses me the most is you are doing this with (from what I hear) all guitar based, primarily rock based music. How cool is that?!

@CK... thank you my dear friend, you are too kind
@Bruce... thanks buddy!
@Chuck... Aww, thanks Chuck, appreciate that. The drums are more than likely Superior Drummer 2, depending on which track you're referring to. I've used Steven Slate Drums 4 on a few recent tracks, but SD2 is my goto drum plug-in of choice. It and all the various expansion packs that Toontrack offers. The guitars are more than likely Guitar Rig 4/5, again depending on which track you're listening to, but there are a couple of tracks that I've recently done with Amplitude 3. But Guitar Rig 5 is my goto plug-in for guitars. And yep, for the most part, most of my success, especially early on was guitar based rock music, some of it hard, some of it heavy, some of it pop, some of it happy. Over the past year or so I've been expanding into some other genres (tension, dramedy) but I know that when it comes down to it, rock guitar is where my bread gets buttered.
@pedro... thanks man!

Thank you. Just made the switch to software after years of being an "I only mic my amp" guy, and am really liking it. You get a pretty huge sound going with your guitars. REally like the sound, so you just kind of confirmed this was a good step for me. But bought Amplitube 3 a few weeks prior to listening to your stuff.

You're welcome Chuck. Amplitude 3 is a great plug-in too. I've only had it for a few months but haven't had a chance to really dig into it yet. I started with Guitar Rig 3 back in 2008 so I'm just really comfortable with GR now. I know what sounds it has and where they're at and I don't have to spend a lot of time looking for them. I'll eventually get there with Amplitude as well. On my soundcloud page, the track "Finding The Groove" used Amplitude 3 for the guitars and SSD4 for the drums. I think nearly every other track up there used Guitar Rig 4 or 5 and Superior Drummer.
Here's a link to a document that will help make your guitars sound more convincing, regardless of which plug-in you use, crs7string shared it with me awhile back and it made a big difference in my guitar sound. Hope you find it helpful too - http://www.harmonycentral.com/docs/DOC-1652.pdf

ANy other production tips though for the style of music you write? The production is spot on , tracks sound nice, clean and huge but uncluttered. And fizzless
. I get the sense there is something going on in there, maybe in use of delays or whatever, that I can't put my finger on.....Thanks for all the comments BTW.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I am glad that you lost weight. That was probably a difficult thing to do at first, but you made it through. I am sure it took a great deal of work.
Congrats on your new physique and your growing music career!
