Retrospective Publishing

Post by michael11 » Tue Dec 04, 2012 5:38 am

Taxi TV talked about 5 pieces being licensed direct to supervisors recently,it was also mentioned that the composers kept 100% of the publishing.

Does that mean that composers should have their own publishing set up or can you publish retrospectively? ie: when you get the placement.

Mick.
The US PROs go back 6 months or more from placement date (or cue sheet filing?) so there is generally time to set things up with no loss of revenue.

That being said, I hesitate to answer at all here because you are non-US and I don't know how things might work with your PRO. My advice is to contact your PRO and ask them what they recommend.

Best,
:D Casey
