Foreign Royalties

Post by jerryjennings » Mon Dec 10, 2012 12:44 pm

I have a few library deals now, but I'm only affiliated with BMI. How pressing is it that I get with some foreign organizations?

Thanks, J

As far as I know, BMI will collect foreign royalties for you via their partnerships with the various countries' PROs, at least that's how it works with ASCAP. I know other composers that are BMI and they do not belong to any other PROs in other countries.

I am an ASCAP member and I get foreign royalty checks twice a year from them. The statements are from several countries including Eastern European countries and Asian countries. The various rights entities from each country are listed.

I don't think that you would even be able to join these other organizations.

Check with BMI to be sure.

I'm sure some BMI writers will chime in.

I'm BMI. BMI collects foreign royalties and they get paid quarterly at the same time that US royalties are paid.
