Re: 1/2 for Crime Drama
I went 0/1 on the other (faster tempo) crime drama listing, so 1/2 sounds good to me! Ha ha! I really like your pieces. Good job!

Thanks once more guys! Tower, don't know how many pieces you submitted yet, but it took me two or three submissions, until one got forwarded. I was just a little disappointed because latley I've had a pretty high submission/forward ratio and expectations were flying high. Taught me, though...

Re: 1/2 for Crime Drama
hey roc... congrats on the forward! I enjoyed both tracks. I don't typically write in this style so take my comments with a grain of salt... If I had to venture a guess as to why the second track didn't get forwarded, it would be because at the 0:11-12 mark and again at the 0:48-0:51ish mark, the strings sound a bit synthetic to me. Or maybe better worded, they don't sound natural. It sounds like they're being "warped", or "pushed and pulled" ever so gently. It was like during the rendering process, at those two spots, for a brief moment it felt like the strings were being ran through a tape machine and the speed was being changed at the beginning and the end. Almost like they were "slipping." I could be totally off on that assessment. Like I said, I don't typically work with this genre. And I may be being nit picky. Just thought I'd offer my $0.02 as a third party for ya.But, anyways... congrats on getting the forward! If you hear back from the company, then you will probably have a chance to play the 2nd song for them as well.- Big Blue

I know what you mean - and you absolutely have a point there. Getting the strings right is the absolute hardest thing in a digital orchestra, because of their incredible dynamics. There's a very fine line between getting the dynamics right and sounding cheesy and artificial; and unfortunately, the timescale you have to deal with when writing music for taxi (or movies, but I'm not there yet) doesn't allow you to fiddle around with string runs for hours - which is what I'd be needing to really get the strings right.
