Return on S121116CH Public Domain Christmas Songs

Post by RonKujawa » Tue Dec 18, 2012 9:56 pm

S121116CH

PUBLIC DOMAIN CHRISTMAS SONGS needed by a well-connected Music Licensing Company with many Film/TV/Commercial placements. QUOTING THE SOURCE: "I'm looking for original and creative takes on Public Domain Christmas songs. Songs should be fun, upbeat, happy, and even quirky would work." That said, be sure your submission has a UNIQUE twist on the classic you choose. They're NOT looking for a typical interpretation. Although they're looking for a unique version, please DO NOT submit anything that is over-the-top or kooky. Tracks MUST sound CURRENT as these will be used for contemporary projects. Be SURE to stay true to the original melody and lyrics of the song. MALE or FEMALE vocals are BOTH okay. Instrumentals are not needed at this time. All tempos welcome. Broadcast Quality is needed (excellent home recordings are fine). You must own or control 100% of the Master rights. No samples of other songs can be used in your recording. Please submit one to three cover songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than Friday, November 16, 2012. TAXI #S121116CH

This was for my version of Silent Night on my TAXI page.

I don't get this return. 8 and 9 across the board. They liked the vibe, but I "could have stayed truer to the original melody."

The listing actually states " They're NOT looking for a typical interpretation."

I actually laughed out loud when I realized it was a return after all the complimentary stuff that was said in the comments.

If the listing is looking for something unique, even quirky could work, but you want the original melody to remain untouched, I feel like the listing ought to say that.

Vent/rant over.

Okay, now I get to laugh at myself.

Thanks for pointing that out, Barry. It's been a long freaking week.
