Keyboard Riser recommendation

Post by dschreiberjr » Tue Dec 25, 2012 7:30 pm

Wondering if anybody could recommend a MIDI keyboard stand to sit on a desk. Much like a laptop stand, but capable of handling a 49 key keyboard. I have a keyboard and mouse tray that slides under the desk for typing and mousing. The MIDI keyboard sits on top of the desk....taking up tons of precious desk real estate.

Here's a pic of the desk so you can get a better idea. Basically, I'd like the Akai keyboard to sit on a stand on the desk and go up about another 4-6 inches. This would free up a fair amount of space underneath of it. I'd like to move my keyboard and mouse from the tray back to the desk (underneath the AKAI).

Any recommendations? Otherwise, I might end up building/modifying something on my own.

Thanks!

I haven't seen anything made for keyboard controllers - how about looking for a printer stand?

I built a simple shelf that spans the length of my desk. I don't have a keyboard controller like you do, but I keep my computer keboard in the same place. When I need to write out something, I can just push my keyboard under the shelf, out of the way.

You might want to go the custom route - if I can build one, I'm sure anyone can :)

That would be something I would search for at a thrift store, or maybe wal-mart stationary department or kitchen department. If worse came to worse I'd probably just buy a few bricks and boards at a Home Depot or Lowes or other hardware/lumber store. I quit trying to build things when most of the time there is something cheap that I can re-purpose and usually works out better anyway, lol!
