Feedback on Dubstep listing

Post by stevepurdie » Sun Dec 30, 2012 1:11 pm

Family n Friends,

I trust you are all having a wonderful season holidays.

I picked up on the dubstep thing today and have been learning some new techniques so I thought I would give it a go.

Have a listen folks and let me know what you think :-)

You're definitely on the right track here Stevo. I've been making various struggled attempts at this genre during the past week, and it is much tricker to do than it sounds on the surface. You've certainly come a lot further than I have (I haven't even figured out how to get past the first bass drop  ). At least you've got yourself a full song in place, complete w/structure and those signature dubstep elements - good job!

The only suggestion I could offer would be to make the track maybe a little "nastier/dirtier". While the elements are all there, they do seem a little restrained. Perhaps there's some mixing/mastering you could do (limiter/compressor) on the the master bus to bring the track to life. Some mean growls would be pretty cool too!

I think the track is worth submitting to TAXI; any improvements could only give it that much more of a chance.

Good luck to you on this one!!!

Hi Rich,

ok cool. Thats really great advice.

I will have a play with that today then, see if I can find some grit somewhere :-)

Its definately not as easy as it looks. The bass sounds alone took quite a while to get to grips with, before working on the song structure....that in itself is the adventure ( i hope )

thanks for all your advice so far.

Speak soon,

Stevo
