I'am a little mad about this return

Post by Luisram8 » Sat Jan 12, 2013 4:03 pm

Hi guy's I am new here in taxi. i submit this dubstep track for this listening.

Owner of a very successful Music Library is in need of HIGH ENERGY, EPIC DUBSTEP SONGS and INSTRUMENTALS in the style of "Doomsday" by Nero, "Woo Boost" by Rusko, "I Can't Stop" by Flux Pavilion, etc.Ê Your piece must have the requisite HUGE DROPS and pulsate with rhythmic intensity like the referenced songs above. Only current-sounding, authentic Dubstep tracks will be considered. Songs and instrumentals will both be considered.Production, vocal and instrumental performance must be top-notch! You must own or control 100% of your master recording and composition. As always, DO NOT rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape or form! Use them ONLY as a guide for TEMPO, TEXTURE, TONE, and VIBE. Broadcast quality is necessary (excellent home recordings should be fine). Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics (if applicable). All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than Monday, January 7, 2013. TAXI #S130107DS.

The reason for this song was return is this.

Slightly more of a retro sound- Particularly the tom sounds.

I don't feel that this track song retro, this is very crazy

What do you think my taxi friends????

No Dubstep expert here, but I thought this was really good, I didn't really pick up on a retro feel overall. My concern is that the HIGH ENERGY doesn't kick in until :55, and the "A" section is pretty mellow. I would have thought that might be a reason for the return more so than retro sounding toms.

I like the tune, production sounds great!

Yes the toms are retro.

There is some high energy in this song, but it is only in parts of it. Those parts are good dubstep.

However, a lot of the song is kinda laid back and melodic.

I think this track can find a home. Keep watching for an opportunity for it.

Hi,

Everyone gets mad about the first returns, it's only human. Just learn from it and you will be good. :)

This track is very well produced and I agree that it will eventually find a home.

For this listing though I would agree with the screener. For me it has more of a "clubby dance feel" and I can kinda hear the retro reference. I am not a dubstep producer but the listing said "high energy and epic" and I did not hear these elements in there.

When I think of high energy and epic I think of an obvious 140 BPM and mega wobble bass and other dubstep noises. It sounded like you may be around 140 but the note durations made it seem really slow, like 70 BPM.

Don't get too upset, you got skills!! And this should find a home soon. Consider it more of a lesson in learning to understand the listing requests.

Keep up the good work!!

Hey Luis,

I disagree with your return, at least for the reason given. So the toms sound a bit retro! It's such a small element of your overall song and doesn't detract from it. If I was screening this listing, I would be given pause by the last 20s of your song where I think it loses energy.

Nevermind, submit it direct to libraries. It shouldn't take long to find someone willing to sign it.

I was returned on this listing as well but the track was signed elsewhere the day before so that's the way it goes.

You've got the skills and the sounds. Hit up publishers directly.

Can you post the entire review? Since this was an "S" listing, there should have been more information than just that one sentence *MAIN* reason for return.

Although I don't know this genre well enough to comment on the music, keep in mind that the listing clearly said, "Only current-sounding, authentic Dubstep tracks will be considered"... This listing reads like one we call "high bar" which means they will be very selective.

And as others have said, if you have an really good track that didn't make the cut for a particular listing, you still have a really good track to submit to other listings, direct to libraries, etc.

Best of luck,
:D Casey

I think you had many cool Dub step elements well under control here.
I'm sorry about your return.
The turnaround was so fast you had no time to forget about it!

Maybe it is useful to think of this particular listing as not being a general Dup step listing?, but a listing soliciting only the styles of the 3 reference songs. Your track may then be be well suited for another Dup step or Electronica opportunity.

I got two returned and the screener gave me advice to include only the elements from the reference songs, nothing else!.
This makes sense to me in that the different Electronica schools tend to be very picky (conservative) about the sound palette,
