I agree, 'Pruit Igoe' by Philip Glass is not calming or dreamy. However, a lot of Philip Glass's stuff is dreamy if somewhat suspenseful.
I also agree that Downtempo is a term used in modern music, usually associated with Chillout, Trip-Hop and Chillout Ambient. Perhaps the term downtempo is being used to mean the tempo of the calming or dreamy composition. In which case -since this is more of a classical listing- I think they should have used one of those Italian musical notation words.

As far as the second listing, if there is no artist listed then you certainly don't have to worry about ripping them off. :D

Really, though, if you are planning on submitting stuff to these listings and you want to be sure to hit the mark, your best bet is to contact TAXI by email or phone and ask for clarification. The ivory tower folk are very easy to work with. Just remember we don't work for them, they work for us, (and for the listing parties.) But the relationship between Us and TAXI is more of a partnership, not one of lord-ship one over the other. That is why it is such a successful model. It's the cooperation.

I'm also used to seeing Downtempo used in reference to Chillout and it seems to be a genre I'm successful with. Maybe they mean referencing only the calm and relaxed portion of the Pruit Igoe track and ignoring the more chaotic section that occurs towards the end of the song.

I'd be interested to know what you hear back from the TAXI folks regarding your question/concern. Keep us updated if you wouldn't mind.

Thanks,

Glad I'm not the only one having trouble reading this listing.

The tempo is for sure more mid to up tempo rather than down tempo.

Pruit Igoe does not have any strong repetitive melodic motifs, it also has a brass section but the listing says "No solo piano or brass".

It is way too chaotic to be calming and dreamy. I don't think this piece is in the minimalist category either, his solo piano stuff are.

Yeah this is very confusing considering there's literally hundreds of pieces by him that are calm and dreamy, and don't have brass. I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume they made a mistake and picked the wrong track from Koyaanisqatsi.
