Screener 352

Post by terry93004 » Tue Jan 22, 2013 12:15 pm

I posted three songs for consideration on a listing S121217NA for ambient, new age music to be used by a hotel company. I was pretty happy with the tracks I sent in but all three were returned. As hard as it is to accept sometimes, the review was very thoughtful and thorough. I very much appreciated the care the screener took in letting me know where I fell short of what was asked for ... The past few months have been difficult for me with a number of returns and no forwards. These are always going to be tough experiences, particularly when it feels like everything is failing. But you have to keep trying - that's how it works. I mainly wanted to post to thank the screener for taking the time to give me their comments. It was informative and helpful.

If anyone is interested ... here is the link to the instrumentals ... skip the first one DEMO and the next three tracks are the ones I submitted.

Wishing everyone success in 2013!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your returns. I submitted to this very same listing and also got a return on my track "Faun's Minuet".

The returns always sting. Even though I didn't go in with real high hopes for my track the return hurt regardless.

Good news is that you're keeping your spirits up and seem motivated by the screener's review. "Write, submit, forget" like they say you know. Get back on that horse and write to another listing without skipping a beat would be my suggestion - that's exactly what I'm doing right now.

Wishing you success in 2013 as well Terry!!!

Good luck for the rest of 2013 Terry :)

EDITED VERSION - I WAS CONFUSED EARLIER AND WROTE ABOUT THE WRONG LISTING

We also submitted 1 song to this listing which was returned! Called Mr Goodman - and the screener gave us some great feedback, extremely useful. It was right for the listing, but had a little confusion over the 3 guitars in places, which detracted from the smoothness required for this listing. Dead right too :) Tony is going to re-record it .

Really detailed, constructive criticism is so important and extremely useful :) We've been lucky, even a lot of the returns with no critique have had some really useful comments on them :)

Good luck again and thank you for sharing :)

Suzanne and Tony and Amanda ... wow ... the support is awesome!!! Yeah, I've been pouting a little bit and it does no good. I had one publisher (where I was successful, thank goodness) send a nice encouraging email yesterday. He used the term "brutal business" ... and, in some respects he's right. What makes this tolerable during the down times is the sense of community and your responses certainly meant a lot to me. I look forward to checking out your music. Cheers ...

Terry, there was no link? but on your taxi home page you had a link to threechordrope, I, followed it and clicked the instrumentals. The three pieces seemed nice and well done.
It is always interesting to hear what the screener thinks. Good luck for the rest of 2013. Liked the blues stuff on your taxi page.
