Hi guy's
I'm new to the forum so I might be a bit green around the ears.
If a song gets forwarded to a library can it it still be used elsewhere or does the deal lock it up.
I got a publishing deal in 2007 for a country song but the publisher retained the rights for 3 years.
Is it the same with a library?

Re: Music Library deal
It really depends on the individual deal. Some are exclusive with a reversion, some are exclusive in perpetuity, some non-exclusive, some semi-exclusive, etc.
There's no standard, in my experience, it's on a case by case basis. There are broad categories as I listed above, but many different flavors of those out there.
Good luck and I hope you get some deals!

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Re: Music Library deal
Hi Mazz
thanks for that, it all seems a bit complicated but I'm sure it will be ok.
Can the tracks still be sold to individuals eg on CDbaby?
I'm on the other side of the atlantic in bonnie Scotland it's getting a bit late now I'll have a look at some posts tomorrow thanks again.

Hi Ronald, FWIW; remember that if your song gets forward it doesn't mean the library will sign it, so you should be fine in continuing to pitch it to other deals.

Re: Music Library deal
Hi Guscave
Thanks for the reply ok so the deal is not with the forward to the library It's when someone picks your track from the library, and they give you some kind of deal that you can accept or reject. That is so logical but helps a lot. I dont have a forward yet, I'll get back to you if I get something to tell, thanks again for the help.
