I hope I am posting this question in the right place here.
I recently had a publisher contact me letting me know they were considering one of my songs for a film. As I reviewed the contract I noticed that it is an exclusive contract. The song they are interested in is one I have already signed in a few other non exclusive contracts.
Is it possible to make an exclusive deal with a song if it is currently under a non exclusive contract? I'd never run into this situation before.
Thanks for any thoughts/advice on this.

No, it can't be exclusive if it's signed somewhere else.

Thanks for responding. Good to know, and certainly affects how quickly I'll jump on a not so enticing non-exclusiveeeoo wrote:No, it can't be exclusive if it's signed somewhere else.

You can offer them a different song.

haha, good call. Just goes to show sometimes the simple solutions and the last ones you think of, or rather don't think of. I guess that's what community is forcoachdebra wrote:You can offer them a different song.
