Hi Geoff.

I don't think that a lack of responses here is necessarily a sign that you need to go back to the drawing board. In my case, I hear so much high quality music from the other posters that I feel like my comments would be amateurish, uneducated, etc. and therefore tend not to take the time to comment. However, the song is so well done that I figured I'd take the time to put in my two-cents.

As a casual listener I agree with "songmaster" that it has a movie ballad feel to it. It has a very good quality to the sound, the vocals are impressive (to me). The only thing that 'bugged' me was the occasional percussion 'tick' of something during the first section before any drums or other percussion comes in. I think you could probably remove it and not hurt the piece at all.

On another note, I left your soundcloud playing while I was writing this and everything I heard was really pro sounding and well written. Keep up the good work.

For me I write singer/songwriter/indie/folk songs, and many other songwriters on the forum do as well, - I find this style so different from what I write, I can't relate to it too much, so I almost didn't write...But I wanted to acknowledge that there obviously has been a lot of craft put into this song...

I am wondering what is your end goal with this song? Film/TV, artists? Where are you imagining placing this song?

To me, I could see this as being marketed toward an animated film, or musical (for me, the "you do really love me for me" is kind of corny - makes me think of Sally Fields at the Oscars) so that is why I see this for animation, musical or something geared towards children.)

Song structure-wise, I think it would be better with a shortened bridge.

But I can see a lot of thought and work went into this.

WOW!!!! So much to like about this song!

The recording is pristine.

The singing is beautiful.

Melody. Contrast. Storyline. Tension in the bridge.

I want to follow this song and see where it goes - it will end up somewhere!

My only suggestion is perhaps to have a full version and a radio edit that is shorter. The bridge-solo-bridge and the outro after the last chorus are two areas where it could be shortened if "the industry" needed it to be shorter. But keep the full version - that's the art!

Thanks Paul, RPW, and Juliete for all the nice compliments. Whenever I finish a song, I get excited and the first thing I wanna do is post it. However there's always that little sliver of doubt. So when I didn't get a response after a few days I didn't know what to think. I probably shouldn't have posted the "drawing board" comment. My apologies for that. I take to heart the objective criticism from my peers on this forum, my friends and family are gonna like anything I put out there. So it means a lot to hear from people
like you who really know and recognize what it takes to write a song. And MAN is it hard!! Thanks again.
