Is 140 bpm too fast for dubstep?

Post by guitaroboe » Mon Mar 04, 2013 5:04 pm

A dubstep track of mine (which got forwarded many many times) was returned
today with just a short comment: 'a little too fast'.
I thought that 140 bpm is the de facto dubstep tempo!!!!

Just sayin'....

moving on to the next challenge!

regards to all

While I agree 140 is the defacto standard, don't forget that things here in California are ~so~ laid back, your 140 is more like 142 or 143 here. Yeah, kinda sorta like the doppler effect, like ya'know, dude?

Hmmm that is an odd one. I thought that was the default tempo too.

Maybe you had too many 16th notes? JK

Very odd indeed !!

Next time I submit for a dubstep listing I will include a screenshot
of my DAW to prove that i nailed the tempo!!

I got a return of a 168 BPM track with a comment saying "This track is not in the 140-174 bpm tempo range specified". ( The listing Y130129DS had specified that range)

Um......

If you submitted "KILLswitch"... then I can see why it was returned.... KILLswitch is not Dubstep, it is some sort of EDM with dubstep influences... it is missing the important element of the snare (or clap) only on beat "3" (except for that brief section of your track at 1:22)

Dubstep's 140 BPM actually has a 70 BPM feel.

Is that the track you submitted?

Russell

Edit: BTW, i'm letting your soundcloud play... really killer stuff on there ... Suh Weet!

Edit AGAIN: OK, I'm down to "Catfight"... yup dubstep at 140... this is the real thing... but it "feels" faster than 140....hmmm...how did you do THAT!... then there is "In Shape" I'm sure that didn't get returned... OK, there's more Dubstep coming up... you know, your Dubstep is much easier to listen to than Skrillex... he makes my blood pressure go up.

So which one got returned??? :?
