Another Newbie intro.

Post by SteveJCurtis » Thu Mar 28, 2013 3:21 pm

Hello all. My name is Steve J Curtis. I'm a guitarist, singer and songwriter still running on "L" plates, based in Brentwood, UK.
I am in my second year as a Taxi member, and although I haven't yet had a forward, the feedback I have had through critiques has been worth the entrance fee! I wish I had joined years ago.
Anyway, I look forward to joining in on the forums and in the meantime wish you all a fine day.
Kind regards
Steve

ps - thanks to Phil at Taxi for his help today.

Thanks Briand. I checked out Trippin' At Your Door ( cool guitars and drums) and What I Am is great too.
All the best/Steve

Steve,

Welcome to taxi! I'm pretty new too. I listened to your reverb nation page songs. Nice work. How'd you get interested in country when your from across the pond?

Thanks all for the posts. My dad was a mad Hank Williams fan, whom he first heard on AFN radio when he was in the army in Germany in the 50's. When I was a kid, the only music we had around our house was Hank, George Jones and Jimmy Rogers. Pretty rare in east London in the 60's. So my first influences as a kid would be trad country. Then I got into blues and rock and now I'm trying to write my own songs with all those mixtures in mind.
All the best
Steve

Welcome, Steve! I'm a Yank what wouldn't know an L plate from a D-cup, but I'm glad to meet ya! That's some damned fine slide playin' on Bayou Stomp; do I recognize a fellow Sonny Landreth fan? :D

Hi Mojo - thanks for the post. Yeah, I am a big Sonny Landreth fan and that track was my (very) humble nod in his direction. And Rory Gallagher's for that matter. I saw Sonny at The Borderline in London a couple of years back and he was supremely awesome. I just floated home after that gig. I'll keep practicing! All the best/Steve
