Have seen this controller? It's designed specifically for Reason, it's $499 though

I don't have any good recommendations from experience as I just use my Yamaha keyboard. Sweetwater has some 88-Key controllers for $199, M-Audio and an Alesis.

Nektar Panorama P4 is a fantastic controller but also a bit above your budget.
They do have a Nektar P1 coming out as well which doesn't have the keyboard ie. just the controller.
Not sure about the price but the reason integration on both products is probably the best on the market.

You can pretty much use anyone out there.
So, whatever you like, that feels good and fits the budget.
Don't forget about the "used" market, you could prob get something fairly sweet for a good price that way. I am using an Alesis QS8 (they don't even make those anymore but I had it since it was new
) but I saw a used one at Guitar Center for around your price range. That one has "MIDI patches" you will never use but it also has the weighted keys.
There is a Casio out there with a nice feel to the action, I think it is the Previa or something like that.

Re: Keyboard controller for Reason6?
Need more info:
How many keys?
Weighted, non-weighted, semi-weighted?
Drum Pads?
Faders, knobs? Both?
In your price range M-audio seems to rule. If you can go up a bit, go for Novation. Better quality, better keyboard. IMO.

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

I like my M-Audio 88es. It doesn't have piano action but I like the action that it has. No bells and whistles, but it is bus powered via USB and has a pitch wheel. Very light and portable as well. I use mine in the studio and live. I think you can get them for about $180.

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm not a big midi guy and I don't do any orchestral stuff so I don't need anything over the top. I've had several recommendations for m-audio so I might go that route first.
Cheers all!

Re: Keyboard controller for Reason6?
I've been looking at Roland as far as a 88 hammer weighted key controller. But, different controllers are for different purposes but a lot of musicians don't like the unweighted keys going for around $200.00. I recently paid a visit to the Nektar web site and it really looks fantastic for reason. SOS has an article on the Panorama P4 which looks good. The publishing date is November 2012.
