Kind of a last minute thing but what the heck! Just submitted two newly composed piano pieces: Moment's Notice and Talk of the Town for the U130405IN listing. Would be interested to hear your feedback about them. I assume hundreds will submit to this but figured $10 was worth a try.
EXECUTIVE MUSIC SUPERVISOR at a MAJOR TV NETWORK U-R-G-E-N-T-L-Y needs CONTEMPORARY sounding SOLO PIANO INSTRUMENTALS in the spirit of COLDPLAY, KEANE, etc. She wants MID-to-UPTEMPO INSTRUMENTALS with a FRESH, CURRENT VIBE in the stylistic ballpark of:
"Clocks" by Coldplay http://bit.ly/axmbUm
"Closing Time" by Semisonic http://bit.ly/7khbIB
"Brick" by Ben Folds Five http://bit.ly/5r7SnE
"Love Song" by Sara Bareilles http://bit.ly/55YSJB
TAXI TIP: Use the reference songs ONLY as an example of vibe and stylistic feel for the piano melodies. They're NOT looking for FULL SONGS with VOCALS, or ANY other instrumentation. SOLO PIANO INSTRUMENTALS ONLY, please.
Quoting the Music Supervisor: "I need a real, live, authentic sounding solo piano performance for this scene. This piece will be used ON CAMERA, as one of the lead actors simulates the performance. Another character will ask him to stop playing, and make a snide comment about his CONTEMPORARY ROCK/POP SENSIBILITIES."
They're NOT looking for JAZZ, LOUNGE, or ANYTHING Classical. Your track must sound AUTHENTIC. They can NOT use anything that sounds like a stiff, MIDI driven, synthesized track. Your song must be at least two minutes long. Please do not copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them ONLY as a reference for tempo, texture, tone, and vibe.

Re: Solo Piano Instrumentals
Hi Dave,
The files sound a little MIDI-stiff, honestly, and the piano doesn't sound very real. I just got my return for this one so maybe you got your answer too - hope I'm off base and you got forwarded!
While I'm here: I kinda hated my review on this one. Stylistic perceptions are pretty subjective so I could be wrong and the reviewer right on that score (*I* don't think so, but c'est la vie). However, I'm a little shocked that the reviewer didn't understand that the 'extraneous' audio I put on each track was put there on purpose. This audio is for a live scene wherein the actor sits down at a piano and plays. How many people don't play a couple keys before lunging into a song? There is no way to have conveyed that to the reviewer beforehand, but I would have thought that, since there was 'extraneous' audio was on BOTH tracks, reviewer might have figured out that there was a reason for it, especially if s/he had read the listing carefully. I know reviewers have to listen to a lot of material, and know it's not easy to slog through it all, but..isn't that a bit dumb? I really don't mind returns when I know I'm taking a big chance, but I have a feeling that the supposedly extraneous audio played a role in my getting returns on both of these.
the tracks are 'Med Up Tempo Pop Piano' and "Medium Pop Piano'.
oh well, another day another submission...

Re: Solo Piano Instrumentals
I actually submitted 3 pieces. All returned. They didn't say anything about it sounding too MIDI. Only comments was they needed to be more uptempo and energetic. That was my initial thought as I hit submit. Should've gone with my gut feeling. So... I'm $15 poorer.
I too was a little fuzzy on this being used in a scene and didn't know how "live" to make it sound.
Oh well....back to the drawing board!

Re: Solo Piano Instrumentals
I think it should have sounded as live as possible, seeing as how it was an actor on camera pretending to play! Oh well. Sorry to hear you got returns. good luck in future.
