Questionable " tiki Bar " return
Hey friends ,
Im going to ask if u agree with screener for the reason
that its been returned .
I deal with returns all the time but I don't write in, but lately
Something in the air over here with my work
Song is called " heading for the water"
This listing was for " jimmy buffet marley- tropical song
Its a return because of a a xylophone ??? ( which is not in there )
It's uke , b3 org Gtr
Seriously ...so. forget the lyric , the hooks , the vocals , the production
But focus on an instrument that "in their" personal opinion
makes it more Malibu??? than tropical ????
And the listing asked for a track emoting vacation vibe
So that's stops it -from supervisor contact ?
Ya kidding me ?
Here's the quote
Dear Juan, I find that the overall vibe with the xylophone is
taking the song more quirky Malibu surf rather
than "tiki bar tropical island paradise" as requested.

Re: Questionable " tiki Bar " return
Well John, I heard either a xylophone, glockenspiel, or something that had a metallic bell type timbre. In the intro there is a chromatic run, so I don't think it is triangles. Imo, even if there is, it would make it more island than Malibu, however I think maybe the vocal harmonies were reminiscent of the Beach Boys?? Though the Beach Boys had "Kokomo", a sort of tiki bar song.
B3 organ with harmonic percussion maybe??

Re: Questionable " tiki Bar " return
Thank you Len good reference to Kokomo
It is a Glockenspiel and I'm glad you feel that it shouldnt
make a difference.
The specific details of universal lyric ( which isn't even commented on)
Of beach, water , sand in your feet, not going to work , cranking tunes
Babes, sun, with a "reggae shuffle and a " good feeling upbeat chorus"
can't get make it through Because it feels more
Malibu than tropical to the screener?
Than the screener should be reading the listing over and over
As we members DO as well .

Hey Juan,
I listened to the tune and it may just come
down to the fact that it wasn't the sound
the screener was after. There were elements
of the Beach Boy's , Pet Sounds in there and
maybe they were after a more rootsy reggae
sound.

Thanks Rich ,
It's accepted that if the owner didn't dig it, that's what it is.
The requests are Reggae to Jimmy buffet- bouncy , positive etc
So whether hard core reggae or Buffet style happy Gtr marimba
That... Is a (wide) submission range.
I just want to hear from my peers if
This song fits into this wide range of request
And if the glockenspiel is enough to stop a forward for this
More Malibu than tropical issue.
It's a submission / listing discrepancy
I'm asking about

I think it's great song but the tinkly bell thing is slightly distracting and for normal listening works great but maybe for media use it doesn't quite fit the bell, sorry I mean bill.
