Making Memories of Us was recorded by Tracy Lawrence and went nowhere. When Keith Urban recorded it years later it went to #1. Incidentally, Rodney Crowell wrote it for his wife as a last minute gift - lol!

Bette Davis Eyes. The original Shannon recording is nothing like the haunting Carnes version.

ok, i'll bite one more time...--for one, CAM EARNSHAW, the guy i met and talked with quite a bit at the rally, and after, is a stellar guy. there is NOTHING he has ever said that i've read that wasn't sincere. anyone who reads anything into his posts but concern and giving a crap, is an idiot. i don't care who you are. to attack or imply that CAM isn't a sincere dude, and means his best, is shooting from the hip. --DEAD HORSES? i've been bbq'd a few times for asking what appeared to be STUPID questions, but here we are again, some of us here (not me...) asking some of the same stupid questions. hell, i pretty much know the answers by now, thanks. songwriters in general are going to have a VERY tough time getting past screeners. we can debate all day and night why that is. as many of us have said (hi Chits...) what difference does it make? what will change? we are all doing our best. --yes, the ORIGINAL question was pretty simple and pretty direct, but what was the answer? some asked how many #1 hits have taxi folks written, Claire said it was answered, ok, that aint very many, is it? --hell, i asked a different question, all i asked was how many HAVE BEEN CUT? i can't find an answer, though the thread is long, i may have missed it...simple question, must be an answer that is at least CLOSE--doesn't have to be exact. and sorry, it is WAY beyond this naive guy's belief that if any taxi member got a song CUT, Michael wouldn't know about it. but lets's just say 1/2 don't tell him THANK YOU! then what's the number? --last thing and i'll shut up....I BELIEVE CAM HAS BEEN FORWARDED TO COUNTRY LISTINGS, AND I WAS FORWARDED TWICE TO COUNTRY LISTINGS...SIMPLE QUESTION BASED ON MUCH THAT HAS BEEN SAID HERE--ARE WE GOOD ENOUGH THEN FOR NASHVILLE? DID THOSE FOWARDS MEAN ANYTHING?oh, i'm not yelling, i'm on quick reply, don't want to put up lights and flashy things....just would be cool to have some answers. i'm trying to get back to the point, and no, i'm not complaining about ANYTHING. just simple, albeit perhaps stupid questions. humor me, i'm gettin old.all the best, warren

I can't believe the simple question I started this thread out with has come to this. It could have been asked this way "Hey guys how successful has taxi members been at getting a major cut" ? But what's the difference. I have been lucky enough to get one country forward out of 12 to 15 submissions, and I'm tickled pink ! Do I want a hit ? YES AND I WILL WRITE ONE ! But I know I haven't yet. This thread did raise another question that I think is what started it out into another direction. Am I right in saying that Taxi is only looking for, and forwarding hit songs, #1's or top 10's which I know that is what all of us want, but do we have a chance at getting a cut at all if it isn't a number 1 or top 10 material ? This is a simple question. There is a lot of money to be made if you get a cut on a major, it doesn't have to be a top ten to make great money.

I'm fine with that and here is why. If I get a country forward then that should tell me that If taxi knows what they are doing, and I believe they do after being in the biz as long as they have, that I just submitted a song that Taxi thinks has hit potential, thats great, what more can you ask for ? If your paying pluggers to go out and pitch your songs, your going to be paying lots and lots more than five bucks and they will pitch anything unless they have already been a big success like Sherrill Blackman who can afford to be picky.

It would be great to sum it up and move on.(1) Taxi was involved in 2 country cuts: Buy Me A Rose and I Loved Her First.(2) No one wants album cuts from outside writers. Now move along... Nothing to see here...
