Recommendation for Errors & Omissions insurance (E&O) ?

Post by sonsofthegoldenwest » Thu Jun 06, 2013 9:47 am

I am surprised I can't find this topic -- E&O insurance -- on the forum already, nor an article on the biz page.

Anyone have good E&O insurance? Errors & omissions insurance protects you against lawsuits claiming you have breached copyright.

Thanks!

Hi there, I think we met at the rally.

I am not sure but have never heard of this for music. For real estate, yes but not music. That may be why you can't find anything here.

I could be totally wrong on this but I would be surprised if this kind of insurance would be common here.

Hi Eric,

I don't know too much- but what I do know of it, I remember Robert Miltenberg at the Road Rally talking about music for advertising, and saying if you got a deal, at the time of signing to ask them to include E&O insurance, and I believe someone asked if that would make you "look bad" and I believe his response was "not at all" - of course we're talking about big bucks advertising - as for most licensing deals, you'll have to wait for for the next person to chime in...

Check with these guys: https://www.musicproinsurance.com/

I don't know if they do this - but if they don't they probably know who does. If you're a member of a musicians union or an organization like Folk Alliance they also have discounts available. And the other place I'd check is with the musicians union.
