waiting for hotel info
I registered for the rally a few days ago, anybody know how long it might take for me to get the rest of the info?
Thanks,
Owen

Re: waiting for hotel info
Hi Owen
I registered the other day as well; always feels exciting to do that!
In respect of the hotel, I haven't seen anything official yet, but Casey posted up a comment recently about the Taxi rate being available there already. (From memory I think he said it was $123?) There should be an email from Michael coming out pretty soon about that I would think.
The rest of the Rally info (the schedule, mentors) comes out closer to the time.
Cheers

Thanks for the info.
I didn't realize Casey had inquired on his own, I thought it was with info from Taxi.
Can you tell me about the mentor sessions? Is there a good thread here that discusses people's experience with them? Perhaps any preparations that might make the most of them?

Re: waiting for hotel info
Hi Owen,
I don't know if there's a old thread on this topic, but the mentor sessions are 15 minutes that you get to have with the mentor of your choice at some stage on the Friday. They are the reason that people start queuing up hours before registration, as the really good mentors get booked very quickly.
I think the key is to study up all the different mentors beforehand, see who would be good to talk to based on what genre you work in, and have a couple of back ups in case the one/s you want are already fully booked.
Typically what happens is that they listen to one of your songs and then critique it. Unfortunately it's only 15 minutes and the time goes really fast. Rather than playing them a song you think is completely "done", I think it works best to have a song that you're still working on, and might be having some issues with or you've got some specific questions about.
There are also "drive by" mentors; a group of mentors in the evening (can't remember how many evenings) that people simply queue up to get a critique from.

Cheers

I couldn't find it from the homepage either, Richard (at least, let's say I gave up when it wasn't obvious).rdance wrote:where the heck do you register? the taxi site is so big i can't even find it.
Here's a link from the email announcing registration: http://www.taxi.com/rally/13/registration.html

Unless you mentor with me!
I don't listen to your music, I answer your questions about how to succeed with your business. Some people talk about time management. Sometimes it's about marketing. Sometimes its about believing in yourself. But you get 15 minutes to ask me your most frustrating, frightening and overwhelming questions about creating a successful career.
Your Coach,
Debra

Re: waiting for hotel info
If you all are still waiting for hotel info before making reservations, you need the advice Andy gave me on a different thread: call Westin LAX and ask for the Taxi group discount. I just did and they said the singles are all booked up so I had to book a double by myself. Let me know if you are interested in splitting it with me!
