Greenback

Post by LooknGlass » Tue Aug 06, 2013 10:12 am

The melody I had in mind, is sorta a Black Stone Cherry and Pink Floyd fusion

(Vs)
He's searching rainbows but comes up empty
on either side of the spectrums end
The fountain of youth long ago went dry
Eyes of crows feet run from him

(Ch)
He needs some greenback
to escape the flies
Yea he's begging for greenback
with hungry eyes
He might be off track
but he still tries
He's lookin for greenback
to buy blue skies

(Vs)
He longs for rib eye with a porridge bowl
a kinder karma that isn't blind
His dim shadow slips through ancient cracks
He's running out of atoms and time

(Ch)
He needs some greenback
to escape the flies
Yea he's begging for greenback
with hungry eyes
He might be off track
but he still tries
He's lookin for greenback
to buy blue skies

(Interlude)
So tired of being a park bench cushion
Fantasizes a Posturepedic dream

(Ch)
He needs some greenback
to escape the flies
Yea he's begging for greenback
with hungry eyes
He might be off track
but he still tries
He's lookin for greenback
to buy blue skies

He's searching rainbows but comes up empty [(Re: V1) I like this type of semi-cryptic lyric LooknGlass :)]
on either side of the spectrums end
The fountain of youth long ago went dry
Eyes of crows feet run (from) him [(deep in?) With (from) ... I see the crows feet extending/radiating beyond his skin. Is that what you intended? " ... crows feet run (from) him" could also imply that he's escaped having them. Which doesn't fit with your searching for youth theme.

(Ch)
He needs some greenback
to escape the flies
Yea he's begging for greenback
with hungry eyes
He might be off track
but he still tries
He's lookin for greenback
to buy blue skies [Nice alliteration! And I like the (green/blue) contrast wordplay with your previous line. :)]

(Vs)
He longs for rib eye with a porridge bowl
(and?) a kinder karma that isn't blind
His dim shadow slips through ancient cracks
He's running out of atoms and time [Running out of atoms? That's so cool and quirky. I love it! :D]

(Ch)
He needs some greenback
to escape the flies
Yea he's begging for greenback
with hungry eyes
He might be off track
but he still tries
He's lookin for greenback
to buy blue skies

(Interlude)
So tired of being a park bench cushion
(He?) Fantasizes a Posturepedic dream [Great line!]

(Ch)
He needs some greenback
to escape the flies
Yea he's begging for greenback
with hungry eyes
He might be off track
but he still tries
He's lookin for greenback
to buy blue skies

Thanks for reading and the reply and suggestion simon. Very appreciated. The crows feet line suggests that the age lines were running from his eyes prominently. The lyric is about a homeless man who is penniless, looking for a break.

He's searching rainbows but comes up empty <----- love this opening line - it's very visual
on either side of the spectrums end
The fountain of youth long ago went dry
Eyes of crows feet run from him <--- this line too - very visual - great :)

(Ch)
He needs some greenback <------------------- I LOVE the entire chorus - was singing to myself and it comes across as very catchy
to escape the flies
Yea he's begging for greenback
with hungry eyes
He might be off track
but he still tries
He's lookin for greenback
to buy blue skies <------ this is a good visual picture - love the
metaphor of blue skies for a wonderful carefree life

(Vs)
He longs for rib eye with a porridge bowl
a kinder karma that isn't blind
His dim shadow slips through ancient cracks
He's running out of atoms and time

(Ch)
He needs some greenback
to escape the flies
Yea he's begging for greenback
with hungry eyes
He might be off track
but he still tries
He's lookin for greenback
to buy blue skies

(Interlude)
So tired of being a park bench cushion
Fantasizes a Posturepedic dream <------ I had zero clue what this meant lol I had to google the word (I understand its a type of mattress ?)

(Ch)
He needs some greenback
to escape the flies
Yea he's begging for greenback
with hungry eyes
He might be off track
but he still tries
He's lookin for greenback
to buy blue skies

Thanks for the review Amanda, always appreciated to get feedback...lol..yea, I had to look that word up to spell it right. That lines describes his longing to sleep in a real bed instead of the park bench.
