Thanks for the great information, Len. It seems that VSL has thought this out pretty carefully.
So at this point, it's mainly an issue of which particular VI sounds the best. The VSL winds sound excellent, but I'm also considering the bassoon, clarinet, and oboe from 8DIO, which also sound excellent.
It's nice to have several good choices!

Re: Suggestions for good woodwind libraries?
Decisions, decisions,
If they both sound excellent, I would tend to gravitate toward the cheapest, lol!

Re: Suggestions for good woodwind libraries?
I love Westgate's winds. They always sit very nice in the mix and work well. I use them with Cinesamples Hollywood winds and they play very well together. I know they are not being developed any longer, but they were a great purchase for me.
I looked heavily at the VSL stuff and at one point they were on the top of my list. But after asking around and researching, I thought they were just too expensive for what you got and they didn't make sense to me. Can't really say why other than it was a gut feeling. But the Westgate's haven't let me down, so I am more than happy with them.
Also, I know that Spitfire audio is working on the BML line - they have said they are looking to do the whole orchestra. The flute has been announced - no shipping date yet, but it is coming. Might be worth the wait. I have their Percussion library and it is outstanding. They are high on my next buy list.
