Suggestions for 2013 Rally Classes/Training

Post by tylerdurden8us » Mon Sep 16, 2013 10:11 pm

Hi Guys!

I'm not sure where to post this or even if there is someone in particular to whom I could pass this along, but I have some suggestions for "classes" at the Rally that I'd love to see offered:

1. Something on house/living room concerts
2. Using Cubase 5
3. How to really record "simple singer/songwriter" stuff

I suppose it should be pretty evident what I want to focus on :O). Also, if anybody has any suggestions for these topics outside the Rally, I'm all ears! But I also think it would be great to sit in a room with other like-minded people who are interested in the same thing. Also, to clarify #3 - I know what simple singer/songwriter sounds like, but I'd really like to hear how to record this type of sound broken down into a more detailed description.

Thanks guys - see you at the Rally!

T.J.

Thanks Debra!

I actually have spent alot of time on Fran's site and emailed back and forth a little. Fran is great. Looking for as much info as I can find. Fran seems to be almost the only game in town, but if I could set up a huge tour of mostly house concerts I think I would.

First, get active on the folk alliance list-serve. A lot of folkie/acoustic people do house concerts. Lurk there and find the artists websites - that may give you the names of some of the house-concert series.

Second, go to the regional folk alliance conferences in your local area and the areas you want to expand into (not the national). Lots of opportunities for guerrilla show cases and lots of house concert folks looking for new artists.

Third, contact your fans and offer to do house concerts in their homes!
