I don't know how many forwards I've gotten...I think around 25 or so but not every single one has been for a country listing. But I'm shy like you...I don't like to talk about myself. I just hope people listen and like what they hear I sometimes think I'm not pushy enough to be in this business - lol!Congratulations on a fantastic achievement with those forwards. Sounds like you are close enough that this could be a really amazing opportunity. I'll throw a few bucks in the hat to get you out there if the hat is in fact being passed around. Would you be willing to link to your work, as it is always helpful to hear the tunes that are making the cut for those of us trying to get to the level of getting forwards.-P

Thanks Perry! I appreciate it but I think it would have to be a pretty big hat! It's not cheap to go to Nashville for some reason. Although I've gotten forwards for country listings, so far no deals. It's really tough and I know that I still have work to do because the competition is fierce. You can check out a lot of my demos on my music page on my website in my signature below. The song that got forwarded for the TAXI Push listing (and the one I would consider putting in for this panel) is called Real Good Night. In general, the song I've received the most forwards for is Don't Mind Me. Enjoy!

Why "Don't Mind Me" has never been cut is beyond me. Adrienne gave me one of her CDs last year at the Rally and I listened to it over and over again on my way home. As soon as I got home I sent Adrienne an e-mail and told her what a great song I think it is.One of these days I think ML ought to put together a "Greatest Hits of Taxi (no NOT the TV show)" CD. That's definitely a song I'd put on it.Cam

I believe there is still much we could learn from this as we both work in music / media. (My husband Nathan is not a TAXI member - only I am.) We would both be happy to come early and help you set up as needed. Nathan is an audio engineer and offered to help with tech during the show if you need it. We could also help tear down afterward. Just let us know when and where to report for duty. ~ LydiaIn between Country songwriting stuff, we can talk about film scoring... I'll be there!

I've had a lot of success with Don't Mind Me but I think it hasn't got cut yet because the demo wasn't produced in Nashville and doesn't technically have the Nashville sound. I know that has a lot to do with whether a country song will be considered in Nashville or not...but I still keep trying anyway with that tune because I believe in it

Adrienne, I hear you. With the exchange, air fare & hotel, etc... this would definitely take a chunk out of the 'this is for the Rally' funds. However, I'm in my first 'real' art show ever on May 30th... if one person was to buy one painting... that would pay for my airfare..... and I do have a couple of country songs hanging about the place.... and I've been longing to go to Nashville... hmmmmmmm she says, checking flights on expedia.com, lol

The exchange rate this past year has been really hurting me on all fronts because everything I do is in $US...even just submitting to a TAXI listing has gone up in price because of the exchange. With the airfare and hotel, then factoring the exchange rate makes it a big expense for a very short trip (and I don't want to have to give up the Rally). Not that Nashville wouldn't be worth the cost but it comes down to what I can actually afford. I'll keep searching those discount travel sites for deals but based on what I found so far, it's just too steep for me. It's killing me though because it's such a great opportunity and I'd love to see everyone!Congrats on the art show! That's so amazing!! I'm sure you'll sell a painting, or more. Looks like you'll be on your way to Nashy

I do think it's fair to point out to people (who might be traveling a long distance) that there won't be a lot of time to play songs. The event lasts 2 hours. If each panelist brings 2 songs, as ML has requested, that's 35-40 minutes just to play their songs with no chit chat in-between. With opening remarks and all that, I think there will be at most an hour to listen to our songs. At 10 minutes per song (allowing 5-6 minutes for panelist comments at the end of each song) it looks like we'll be lucky to get six songs in. I expect most of them will be shut off after first chorus, so maybe that will allow a few more songs. In spite of this, I just plunked down $300 for air fair because 1) Michael has offered to play at least one of mine and 2) You never pass up an opportunity in this business and 3) I want these guys to see me ten times a year if at all possible so that eventually they'll remember me (and hopefully not as "that guy who writes mediocre songs!) I also want to get ML really drunk and get a picture of him with a lampshade on his head. For future "encouragement" of course.Michael, I have a CD I could bring of demos of recent country hits that was given to me by an EMI executive. Most of these are the original rough demos, made by Craig Wiseman and others, of songs that later became hits. "International Harvester" is one them. There is no denying that the hit potential of each song is evident even listening to their rough demos. It's very educational.

If I was to come, it would be not only to be at this event, but to spend time with other TAXI members, and a couple extra days to see a little of Nashville.
